Shkodra Backpackers Hostel - Mi Casa es Tu Casa

after staying there i got a rash all over my body, they definitely got bedbugs. some staff were nice while others were really unhelpful. they also didn’t tell you that the fridge broke and all our food went bad the overall vibe was kind of weird and tense when you book the “rustical wooden shed” they don’t really disclose that you will be staying in a shed in the garden, the whole room creaks when you’re moving. the other travellers in my room also found it misleading and weren’t s...

There are BED BUGS. Got a rash after the first night, it’s spread all over my arms, body and legs now. The ‘rustic wooden cabin’ is just a wooden shed, everything creaks and shakes. The fridge wasn’t working and the staffs were told by others, but they still continued to tell new guests (inc me) that we can use the fridge. All my food were spoiled. Terrible place.

My room was super stinky, it came from the bathroom and it was hard to fall asleep as it smelled soo bad. The light in the bathroom was a joke, it didn't brighten up anything. When being in the room, the wifi was s***, it disconnected frequently and the signal in general was super bad. My room was next to the entrance with the window facing to the common area and therefore pretty loud. One of the dogs is aggressive as it barks at you if you take a 'wrong step' into its direction. Don't recommend

The hostel had a nice vibe, however it was quite hard to get some sleep due to the high temperature in the room, and the room also contained bed bugs. Me and the guys that I traveled with all got bed bug bites and marks from the bed bugs could be seen on the wall in the room.

There were bedbugs in my bed and they charge a conversion fee if you pay in Albanian Lekks. They charged me 3 euro for the conversion fee. Other than that everything was good.

BED BUGS in "rustic cabin", which is basically a shed. We asked for a refund which was quickly given to us. Some staff were nice, but some quiet rude and cold. When we spoke to the owner about bed bugs (very nicely) she acussed us of wanting to change hostels to go to a party hostel. Overall its a nice space, but bed bugs and weird vibes from staff ruined it. Wouldnt reccomend.

It was okay I guess. My biggest issue with my stay here is that they wouldn't turn on the air conditioning until 10 pm - no exceptions. I couldn't nap in the middle of the day because it was SO hot in the room, and they were rude about it when I asked

The dogs are aggressive and the staff doesn’t do anything about it. Ex. They will bark at you for walking up the stairs. They say they are a hikers hostel, it is more a stop before going further. They don’t help with day trips. When checking out we paid for the wrong room. The kitchen closes for hours during lunch because they have to clean it. Our laundry smelled more after than before washing. If you leave before you have to pay extra on top of what you already paid. That makes no sense.

Helped book all transport around theth-valbone which was super helpful. Clean, friendly environment.

Very dark and a bit creepy house. The dogs are very angry so be careful, and overall just a bit weird vibe. So many signs everywhere felt like I was bombarded with information all the time, with strict rules. And the day your to lake Shala was so long and not worth the travel time, as you basically arrived at a resort where everything cost money, far away from the serene pictures seen online. And the cleanliness was not very good, and bedbugs which were only killed with steam. Would not recommen

The vibe at this hostel is wonderful and the owner Alma is a delight. I found the dorm too tough (I am nearly 60) so they gave me a suite at a reduced rate. My only criticism would be the price of the suite, even at the reduced rate it seemed quite expensive for what it was. If you stay in the dorm or cheaper rooms then I highly recommended this hostel.

hostel has a relaxed atmosphere ,very clean. its a perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring , because it has lots of commom areas. I loved the hammok they have outside In the garden . Lots of facilities as well , you can book tours, rent a bycicle and a full equiped kitchen . Free coffee and tea In the mornings are lovely . Also filtered water free . The location is outstanding , right In the main street. the kindness of staff , they are friendly and ready to privide you any information.

amazing place

Can't recommend mi casa enough for anyone visiting Shkoder or Albania in general! The hostel has a truly warm, homely feel and the whole team couldn't be more welcoming and accommodating. Has such a wonderful community vibe and is an ideal hub for anyone wanting to explore Shkoder. Great for animal lovers too!

The most amazing hostel. We stayed there are 3 young girls and it felt incredibly safe and comfortable, they even happened to give us our own room and bathroom. It was so pretty and had ton of games and places to hangout inside and outside. Very easy to meet other travelers and the staff were also super friendly. Couldn't recommend this place enough!!!

Everyone was so kind and we had a very good time there. 10/10 would go there everytime again

Fantastic hostel, would highly recommend if you're staying in Shkoder. A historic hostel- it feels like a museum of memories and artifacts from the past. Run by an enthusiastic group of hosts and volunteers, you'd not spend a minute without a fun happening. Not just humans, the hostel is home to adorable dogs and a lap cat. Very accessible location, also available are bikes, bus bookings, trips right from reception.

An amazing hostel. Very cozy with lots of space to chill. The workers are what make this place so special. Everyone is incredibly friendly and hospitable. 10/10

The dogs and cats are very scary and my wife was very uncomfortable and could never be have peaceful living

I can’t praise this hostel enough. It has a feeling of a friends house. Edy, the administrator, is wonderfully friendly and his wife makes the best breakfast in town. The volunteers were nice and chatty, the dogs and cat friendly, the fire warm on a winter wonderfully night. I loved it. The BEST hostel I’ve ever been. Also, they were very kind to upgrade me to a bigger room because it was low season. Thank you! I plan to come back! Xoxo

great location. right next to the bus station. hostel itself is clean with a great kitchen. complimentary coffee every morning until 11am. bike rentals for €5 for the entire day. 3 dogs live on site so be aware of that but they are very loving and chill. the owner, workers and volunteers are great. I was the only guest there for 2 out of my 3 nights and the staff went out of their way to check in on me and make me feel at home while there.
