Hostel owner is very forward towards girls and in general tries to get with any girl that stays here.
We were in the off season, so it was very quiet. The hostel itself couldn't help it. What they could do was the enthusiasm of the staff. Interest. And the hygiene of the sanitation we found was very low. We were finally checked out a day early. When we wanted to check out the lady behind the reception just said, 'okay.' No question how we had it or what the reason was that we checked out sooner.
I arrived in this property and waited 15 minutes at the reception desk u fil someone finally came to check us in. They’ said they had our room but it was not ready and that we could leave our bags and come back later. We were surprised with how far the property was from the centre is town (15min cycle all downhill into town and all uphill back…)! When we returned from town ready to be told that our room was no no longer available and no apology! Very disappointing and rude
The hostel is a bit run-down. The bed is quite uncomfortable and the pillows are really old. They need to renew some stuff. The breakfast was great!
Mattresses were soft and uncomfortable and the sheets didn’t fit properly. No privacy in the beds, curtain would be nice. AC was only turned on in the evening although it says the room had AC all the time. The place is just a bit old and worn down. Bit of a walk away from main town centre with not much else around the hostel. Great staff, very helpful. Outside seating area was ok
Bed bugs 🥲
Staff wasn't very friendly or helpful which seemed odd since they work at a hostel. Ants in lower bunk and staff didn't seem bothered. Bathrooms were rough and not well kept. Atmosphere didn't feel welcoming but I don't know if that's because we were the youngest ones there - everyone else seemed to get a long great.
The hostel itself was ok. The dorm rooms are so stuffy, poor ventilation even with fans and windows. I do like the bathrooms and shower space are nice and big. I like the dining/living room communal space and they do provide breakfast, eggs, toast, fruit, juice, cereal. The location is up on a hill though and a little far from the main downtown street. But it is close to Cahal Pech ruins which was nice. The tour they arrange to ATM caves was amazing!
Staff were lovely so I feel bad leaving a bad review but the cleanliness was actually a joke for the price. Free breakfast was toast and cold scrambled eggs. Also really far out of the town so i didn’t feel safe. I’ve also left with lots of suspicious looking bites. Not sure if bed bugs but wouldn’t be surprised.
We stayed one night and it was overall pretty nice. The breakfast is buffet style which is a strong suit and they offer drinkable water. The people working there were helpful and the location is not bad. Not the hostel's fault but there was a loud event nearby, we tried to shut the window but it did not work.

Social atmosphere with a nice bar/outside area without being a full on party hostel. they offer tours at a good rate and is run/owned by Belizeans. a little farther from the downtown area but most people travel here for the ruins/tours so not an issue. walking distance from some Mayan ruins in San Ignacio which is cool. definitely recommend!
I really like this hostel and it felt like a good value. The kitchen is really really poorly equipped (no pots) and they are picky about whether or not they’ll turn the AC on at night, sometimes refusing to do so even at 100 degrees. It’s on top of a big hill so going anywhere is a bit tough but honestly loved my experience.
Very impressed with the hospitality and cleanliness of this place. It was the perfect spot to relax after a long day and the AC was such a bonus! The owner really goes above and beyond to make his guests feel at home. The showers are also massive!
Great social hostel, you really feel at home walking through the property or relaxing at the deck outside. The floors and facilities are cleaned throughout the day. The only remark is that there are only 4 bathrooms for all guests to use, and no separate toilets, requiring you to wait even though the hostel was not even half full when I was staying there. The tours and activities they offer are great though and fairly priced. Had a lot of fun doing the tubing with the owner Bubbles and Javi.
Really nice place. Manager (Bubbles) and all the staff go out of their way to create a nice social environment. We also did the ATM cave tour with the hostel which I would recommend as they are one of the earliest to leave so you are in the cave before everyone else. Oh and shout out to Toothless the cat too!
Good hostel located far from the city center, but it has all the necessary comforts. They charge excessive bank fees, so cash is preferable.
Had a fantastic stay, which was on the one hand due to a great value for money ratio and on the other hand mainly due to the great atmosphere and the nice people. both the passengers and the staff and the owner are super nice, helpful and for everyone to have fun. danke für die schönen Tage! 🏼
Great hostel. Massive bathrooms, spacious common areas inc a bar, really helpful staff. I was only stopping in San Ignacio for a night while travelling to Mexico, but I'd be sure to stay here again if I ever return.
A bit out of the center and it’s worth noting that you have to climb a hill to get there. The tours are nice and seem to be reasonably priced, and the sitting area outside and upstairs were good. Breakfast is just ok.
Yellow Belly was the perfect place to stay in the area! It was walkable to town. They offered many activities if that’s what interests you! The patio was great for relaxing! We also made use of the kitchen daily which was awesome for not always eating out! We booked our ATM tour through yellow belly and had great tour guides! Stayed in a 6 bed dorm room and it was very spacious and comfortable!
Bed bugs 🥲
Very good stay in this hostel with many different spaces. breakfast is very diverse and the kitchen very well equipped. everything is very clean. the excursion to the ATM cave was top with a very interesting guide, kind and attentive to our safety.
Big thank you to all the staff at Yellow Belly- you are all such beautiful souls. Clearly a real passion for hospitality and thank you for going above and beyond. Big smiles and excellent vibes all around, it always felt very welcoming and inclusive. Facilities were well set up, lots of communal space to hang out. The breakfast was consistently fresh and kept warm. Really peaceful location and pretty short walk into town. The ATM cave tour was phenomenal and easy to book. An unforgettable trip.
Stayed with a large group so had multiple rooms all to ourselves. Only one room had AC which was unfortunate but traveling in Central America means that AC is a luxury. Had a great time, staff was nice and the lounge area was great to relax in after spending the day out. Also very close to Cahl Pech!
Lovely staff who organised social events such as pool tournament and going into town for the boat festival party. Good room and bed, slightly hot. Free bikes to use and good laundry service.
Great hostel! The staff was so kind, offers many types of activities. There’s a great ambience
The staff were excellent. They had great advice, handled the tours politely and professionally.Breakfast was awesome and no problems to access to a shower. I met a lot people from all over the globe, and had a great time.
Decent hostel with a good location. Beds have both lights and curtains which is a huge plus. Unfortunately I didn’t think the bathrooms were very clean
Perfect place to stay with brilliant staff and great excursion options. Bar area was lovely, staff couldn’t be more helpful and we had comfortable clean beds with good sized lockers. Peaceful place with some nice evening activities on offer (which finished nice and early!)
Genuinely one of the best hostels I’ve used. I had a wonderful time. Staff there are amazing and incredibly welcoming. They run tours through the hostel, use that if you can. Only knock is that it’s a bit further from san Ignacio center, but everything else was perfect. And for the price, you do get a free breakfast.
