The Beachside Hostel Anjuna

I booked this hostel based on its positive reviews, but my experience was very disappointing. It is located about 2 kilometres away from the main area of Anjuna, which makes it quite inconvenient. When I arrived, there was no clear sign indicating where the reception was. I went to the bar, where I found two unwelcoming young European staff members. This is a very social hostel. It’s right on the beach and you need a scooter to get around, as it’s quite far from the main shops and restaurants. I stayed in a 12 bed mixed dorm and it was really dirty. If you’re on the 1st floor, you have to take your shoes off and leave them downstairs.

I'm not sure who owns this property, but the one supposedly "managing" it during my stay was basically using the whole place as a private Home for herself and people who she deemed were her friends. Literally heard the maintenance staff say the same TO HER FACE in front of me. She was sharing the female dorm with us. She and her friend had to be the filthiest people I've bunked with. Literal underwear and socks on the basin counter. Word of advice. The location is good but book a private room.

Only attraction is its close to beach. Unhygienic environment and hosts are not welcoming at all

Not very clean at all bathroom area is dirty. Would not recommend staying here if you are a solo traveller people just mainly working during the day at tables all spread out and not talking- they don’t encourage friend making or do events etc. The staff just stand behind the bar all night- food they serve is not the best either. unless you’ve got a motorcycle can’t really get around anywhere - the beach close by is dirty - overall would not recommend this hostel at all !

There is no cleanliness or hygiene, and it doesn’t feel like a hostel at all. They don’t even allow playing music. The staff is not cooperative, and even basic amenities like water are not available. Toilets are located far away, like in a jungle, full of frogs, lizards, and insects, making it extremely unhygienic and uncomfortable. The overall atmosphere is dull and unwelcoming, not worth staying at all.

Location is ok but there is no housekeeping services in hostel and the water is so dirty. The guy who is standing in front only treat foreigners and girls. He think with licking of girls and foreigners he can put good impression of the hostel. Don’t recommend this place to anyone.

Every time someone mentioned some dissatisfaction with their services, their go to answer was "we cannot make everyone satisfied".

Worst ever hostel….they overcharge you on everything

Was a lovely stay with fairly clean bedrooms and bathrooms. Vikram and Deepika were especially kind and helpful! Got a lovely henna tattoo design from Deepika.

I’ve been visiting this hostel every time I’m in Goa; it’s my go-to spot for the amazing vibe, even if it’s just for a day. During this stay, I had a great experience with Akif the volunteer. He was incredibly proactive, ensuring everything was in order and making sure we were comfortable and well-cared for. Great hostel! Right on Anjuna beach. The rooms are nice, good AC and very clean. The hostel is very social generally and they also hold events like beer pong and henna painting which makes it even easier to socialise. The staff and volunteers are very welcoming and friendly. We had an amazing stay here!! The beachside team were amazing! It’s a 1 minute walk to the beach, rooms were lovely, and great atmosphere, recommend!!!

I stayed 5 days at The BeachSide Hostel in Anjuna and honestly had one of the best experiences of my life. The vibe, the people and the atmosphere were amazing. HUGE shoutout to the volunteers, especially Raunak (🫶), who made my trip unforgettable and made me feel welcome from day one. Ted was also great and helped create an awesome atmosphere. I came for a few days and left with incredible memories and friendships.

Stayed here once in March, was so good, came back again in April. Urja is one of the best hosts, and an amazing human. The activities they organise very interactive. Uber can be tricky to find, so it’s best to rent a bike and they help you with that as well. The views from the hostel in the evening are immaculate, the vibe is even better. Huge shoutout to Ted, Nemo, Emily, Adil, Sam and Muslin cause they surely made our stay memorable. Needless to say, i will visit again! Highly recommended.

While the hostel is perfect if you are open to a noisy crowd - it just wasn't my cup of tea, they turn off the AC for 2 hours between 7-9 which also kind of irked me a little. woke up from a good sleep in a pool of sweat. the location is great. the beds are great and washrooms are great as well. but would only recommended this place if staying at the beach is part of your itinerary. not really my cup of tea as I was looking for a calmer atmosphere.

It’s a great pick if you’re looking for a chill, budget-friendly vibe in Goa. The location is the biggest win — right by the beach, so you wake up to the sound of waves and can just walk out for sunsets. The whole place has a very social, backpacker-friendly atmosphere, making it easy to meet new people. Downsides: dorm beds are a bit cranky and the AC could be more chilled.

Loved the stay and the crowd. Big thank you to Sohail for the easy checkin and checkout . Kitchen can do with some improvement though Shout out to Chloe, Nemo , Ted and Oorja for making it a wonderful time there.

Legitimately the best hostel experience I've ever had. The staff, the vibe, location are simply unbeatable. There's a bar in the joint that serves food, and the biggest rave in Goa is less than 5 minutes away (Shiva Valley). Beach bars and restaurants are all seconds away. You can see the ocean from the patio- it doesn't get better than this!!

Goa is hard to get around in without a vehicle, so be ready to rent or ride a scooter or taxi. The beach is truly close by. Curtains on beds and lockers under the beds, decently reliable hot water (the first room I stayed in had good hot water, the second not so much, but that might have been the time of day). The excursions were a bit unorganized and never left on time, sometimes they were teased for hours and ended up never happening. Loud music in the courtyard every night till midnight, ...

Such a fantastic experience at Beachside hostel. Of course the facilities were nice, but what made it memorable were the people. A special shoutout to the entire staff - Suhail, Urja, Nimay & Chloe - for going the extra mile to create a welcoming and fun environment. Will absolutely visit again, hopefully soon! highly recommended ♥️

Always the best, craziest and safest place to visit in Goa when you’re confused where to stay. I’ve been visiting this hostel from a long time and it always gave me the best experience. The amenities, dorms, well cleaned washrooms, options of availability. No need to worry at all. Special shoutout to Mick and the staff - Suhel, Nimay, Chloe. And not to forget - Mehdul & Abhishek.
