Overall one of the worst hostels I’ve stayed at, and I’ve stayed at a lot! Aircons in the rooms broken. Bathrooms are dirty. Kitchen is dirty, waaay too small and every kitchen cabinet seems to be falling apart. Oh, and to top it off the staff are incredibly rude. After checking out around 09:30 am, the staff came round and told everyone in the hostel if it was their check out day they must leave the premises before 10am and not allowed to hang around for even a minute. Really dirty hostel. Just serves a purpose if you’re there for one night but I wouldn’t choose to stay again. Really quite gross. Only a couple of toilets to accommodate a huge amount of people which meant it was constantly filthy and at one point a girl used one of the two sinks to wash her hair for an hour and then left the whole bathroom flooded with water and hair all over the sink. Girl on the desk was not very chatty and felt unapproachable.

Really run down hostel, very dirty kitchen with many people not opting to cook there due to lack of pots/pans/cutlery etc. Beds incredibly creeky, not sure if the concrete floors in the rooms have ever been washed. Staff not particularly friendly. Odd how they just walk into the dorms without knocking (several times) and try and get you out before check out. Just stay at Adventure Inn down the road.

It’s not a bad to sleep, but…. - Kitchen were very messed up and dirty - only one kitchen knife for cooking in a hostel with around 40 guests - check out at 10:00 am and around 12:30 they kicked us out, as the shift of the receptionist finish at 1:00pm, Nobody (checked out guesses) were allowed to stay in the common areas after 1:00pm.

The mattress has a deep dent in the middle so you’re sleeping like a v shape :( The common area is quite small so not a lot of space to unwind when you are back at the hostel. But the hostel is clean and staff is friendly and it’s the cheapest around Wanaka.

I booked 2 pods in a 4 bed dorm. When we arrived we got taken to our room which has 4 pods but also a double bed bunk bed squeezed into the room. I was so disappointed as this was not what I had booked or paid for. I specifically chose a 4 bed dorm. The bunk bed just about fit in the room so there was no floor space and just a mess from other people as there was no room/storage. The location was food and the staff were nice but I would not stay there again.

DONT STAY. Overall this hostel was very dirty. The rooms and bathrooms alike look like they hadn’t been cleaned. The beds didn’t even have clean sheets. We even considered getting a hotel room. The staff was nice but the place was a wreck. It’s also not on the lake. If i could rate lower i would

Went there on a weekend in june. 2 persons. That time was really cold and cloudy in wanaka and they accomodate us in the room no. 8 which apparently is the only one that is located outside the main building. It was 4 bed dorm in a small hut. The room was smelly and the beds were full of dirt, which as a backpacker I usually don’t mind, in the end I just need to sleep there. unfortunately we were very disappointed my the attitude of two of the staff at this hostel in particular on a number of occassions. There was no sign identifying that the kitchen would be not accessible at a certain time each day gor cleaning. Other guests and ourselves were quitely rudely instructed to leave regardless of being mid cooking of food. For the duration of our stay there was also a number of different unpleasant smells in the common areas and dorm room.

Great location but hostel is in need of a bit of tlc. The light in our double room didn't work and the bed looked like it hadn't been made. Shared areas okay, but not the cleanest. Staff were friendly though.

Eigentlich gutes und günstiges Hostel, aber leider zu wenige Steckdosen in den Zimmern. Lage ist gut und man ist recht schnell überall. Draußen gibt es Hängematten, was sehr cool ist.

Great hostel. The beds all have their own plug sockets and lights and provide good privacy. Quiet location but walking distance to everything in Wanaka. Good kitchen facilities

Smell in the room. Used tissues left under the bunks from previous people so not cleaned well. Run down. Old musty curtains. Disabled bathroom plain concrete floor with bad drainage after people showered (damp). Staff member ok. Place was run down. Outdoor area to eat by the kitchen was nicer than being in the room. Would not return.

Alles war grundsätzlich gut nur die Betten in meinem Zimmer haben alle gequietscht. Deshalb konnte ich in der Nacht kein Auge zu machen. Vielleicht sind andere Zimmer anders ausgestattet, aber das war schon sehr nervig weil es relativ laut war.

Place is cheap and cheerful and has everything you need. Issue was the older guy who I presume was the owner - who just sat in the communal making lots of work calls being very loud & also complaining about gets arriving slightly early or late (we had arrived 30 mins early and were clearly in earshot)

This was a great place to stay for a few nights! The kitchen was a bit cozy when multiple people were cooking, but not unmanageable. It was actually created a friendly opportunity to chat with other people staying at the hostel. I very much appreciated the outdoor space, especially the hammocks.

100% recommend. The hostel has a really easy social atmosphere that I've been missing ever since. The rooms are a bit small, but that fosters interaction even more. Not that many bathrooms and showers available, but I rarely had to wait. Reception people and the owner were really nice. Cheap bike rentals and laundry available. Loved my stay there.

Very good atmosphere. Kinda self made facilities and beds but gives the hostel a nice personal feel. Location is amazing and they have hammocks!!
