The owners are very kind and helpful, and the surroundings are quite beautiful. I think all the good reviews must be from guests who stayed in private rooms. The dorm room and bathroom were dark, musty and leaky and need serious updating. As for facilities, there is no laundry, no bike rental and no food available. The owners kept taking videos of me for their instagram which made me very uncomfortable. If you want to stay here, maybe a private room is the best option.

Sorry I wouldn’t stay here. The host were strange, Mangsi struck me as arrogant and his conversations made me and other guests extremely uncomfortable. Tati was recording our conversations as the guests were hanging out without asking so it was hard to relax. The room womens “dorm” was in an open area accessible by everyone. There was plastic covering the mattress + pillow that was so loud when anyone moved. They serve you tea that seems complementary then charge you at the end. Very stran...

Such hospitable people! Near the volcano and they sort out the trip for you so it’s nice and easy. I would recommend this place especially for solo travellers due to their friendliness and generosity. They even helped us get on the public bus back to Medan and walked us to an ATM.

Welcoming host eager to create a warm environment. This hostel is nestled in a farm on the outskirts of Berstagi. Easy to catch buses & good laundry facility near by. I would definitely stay again.

De eigenaren zijn super lief en behulpzaam. We hebben ons ontzettend welkom gevoeld. De enige minpunten waren de enorm koude douche en het gebrek aan een watertap. Ook de hygiëne had iets beter gekund. Er was een zeer positieve sfeer, de eigenaren organiseerden een muziekavond waarbij we een traditionele dans hebben geleerd.

It’s a very lovely place with the best owners

This guest house is on such a beautiful location and it was the perfect place to recharge from the Jungle Trek. Tati and Mangsi, the owners, are super sweet and take great care of you. I was sick for one day and they made sure I had water and medicine. Sometimes a was missing some privacy and anonimity, but overall this was a great stay!

Que dire à part que tout est parfait ! Tati est adorable, autant que son frère. Ils m'ont accueillis les bras grand ouvert dans leur homestay idyllique. Ils m'ont aidé à trouver les meilleures places pour manger local, à prendre le bus au bon prix, à organiser la suite de mon voyage,... Ils sont hyper attentionnés et souriants ! Leur homestay est proche de la nature, et il est facile d'accéder au centre en bus mais honnêtement il y a tout ce qu'il faut autour. Ici on est au calme !

Bienvenue dans votre nouvelle maison de famille ! Rien n’est trop pour Tati et son maris, vous êtes plus que bien accueilli, ils adorent passer du temps avec leur hôte et chacun à leur manière ! Les oranges du jardin sont délicieuses, les conseils ne s’arrêtent pas et les nuits musicales sont incroyables ! Encore merci pour tout, c’est fabuleux n’hésitez pas !

Tati is super warm and welcoming, she'll help you arrange the volcano hike and a shared taxi to lake Toba. This has real homestay vibes. The only downside is that the pitbull wasn't super happy about me being there, but thankfully it was caged in, I don't want to know what would happen if it wasn't.

Amazing, cheerful Tati, her husband Mangsi and his brother Mawan will make your staying memorable. As i read in previous reviews, all are true: this hospitableTRIO will make you feel like home. I booked 1 night online, but stayed 4. Clean, safe and about 10mins ride by cheap (3~5,000) minibus to Berastagi, about 20mins {10,000) to hot springs. I can recommended Gintribu in 100%. I had a wonderful time during my stay at Gintribu Guesthouse. On arrival, I was offered a plate of fruit, which was a lovely touch. The dorm is spacious and the beds are very comfortable! Tati, Mangsi and Mawan are incredibly hospitable and really look after their guests. Although I only stayed for two nights, it felt as though I’d known them for ages when I left. If you’d like to climb Mount Sibayak, the guesthouse can arrange everything for you. I’d recommend this place to everyone!

Thank you Tati and Dermawan, I enjoyed my stay very much! The owner is helpful and very nice. They speak English, everything is clean! You have a nice chill area with guitars drums and sofas. Ask the owner if you need any help, from renting a motorbike to going to another city! Would love to come back! The only con there is no warm water.

Mijn vriendin en ik hebben ontzettend genoten van het verblijf! We werden al meteen heel warm ontvangen toen we aankwamen en de eigenaren helpen met alles. Ze zijn super lief! Het verblijf is een beetje primitief, maar voor deze prijs kan je ook niet echt anders verwachten.

Je suis restée 4 nuits a GINTRIBU, et mon séjour était parfait ! Tatie et Mangsi m’ont beaucoup aidé (transport, nourriture...), et m’ont emmené avec eux vivre de belles expériences sur place ! Merci pour tout, j’espère vous revoir un jour 🫶

C’est bien plus qu’une guest house. C’est un endroit où on se sent comme chez sois. Où on discute, on connecte avec les autres.. si vous vous arrêtez a berestagi vous devez passer par là!! 😊

J’ai passé une seule nuit ici, et avec regret ! J’aurai vraiment aimé resté plus longtemps, Tati est merveilleuse, j’aimerai que les hôtes soient tous comme elle ❤️

This place was an amazing Homestay!! Tati took care of us as if we were her own! We bonded instantly with her warm welcome. She helped us navigate the public transport and made sure we were always safe. I loved my time here! 10/10 recommend from Lithuania!

Incredible place. Beautiful setting amongst trees and plants if a little out of the way. Very helpful and hospitable hosts (Tati and Mangsi). Best part was the guitar singalongs at the end of the night - Mangsi has an incredible voice! Felt very homely and wish I could've stayed longer
