Desperately NEEDS an age limit for who is allowed to stay in dorms. A mean, dirty woman who looked at least 80 ruined the vibe with her stupid questions and ignorance. She moved my stuff without asking, which was especially annoying when she moved my clean towel and replaced it with her dirty one and didn't tell me until after I had used her dirty one. Rude management. They ask you to sign documents even where it explicitly states that a signature is not required, then they accept the booking and the payment, only to cancel the reservation afterward. To be avoided. Strong smell of sargassum throughout the property. On the positive side, the other island I later visited, Caye Caulker, is significantly more beautiful, with diving that is both cheaper and more spectacular.

Like the rest of San Pedro. It's full of old fat seedy Americans. One of them stole 4000 Pesos from my bag. There's no backpacker atmosphere and no doors/locks on the showers. If you are a backpacker Caye Caulker is 100000% better.

As a backpacker and young traveler I would advise to avoid this hostel and San Pedro all together. There are no locks whatsoever on the rooms. There are old men living out their retirement in the dorms. There are cockroaches. There is AC but somehow the top bunk beds are still super hot at night while the room is cold. There is currently construction going on and the pool is not available! Just go to Cay Caulker. Much more backpacker friendly. Had a great time there

The beds were very private, similar to capsule hotels in Tokyo. Unfortunately, this led some people (in particular, the person in the bed next to mine) to believe they were alone in their own private room, and to engage in intimate and highly inappropriate behavior in a shared space with both female and male guests. I felt completely unsafe, uncomfortable, and violated. I was also supposed to get a 20% discount because the pool wasn’t accessible, but the discount wasn’t applied.

Pretty alright place. For sure just expensive. But the beds were really comfortable and the dorms were cool. A decent walk from the ferry if coming from Belize city, overall I’d say a good hostel just too expensive in San Pedro

Hostel was advertised with all amenities. Hostel was under construction and was literally only a bed. This is false advertising. Call the hostel before booking to confirm if all amenities are available (e.g. pool, common area). Hostel advertised as “beach front”. Beach on property is not swimmable and covered in seaweed.

More so a busy restaurant than a hostel- no hostel atmosphere/activities. Full of people wandering in who aren’t staying, sitting by the pool, and even entering rooms. Rooms smelt of fried food the whole time, and we felt there was a sincere lack of security. Lovely pool, however.

Well-located hostel with an amazing rooftop.

Service was good and staff was helpfull. Hostel was clean and bathroom facilies were in exellent condition. Dorm capsules worked very good and dorm room temperature was cold enough thanks to air conditioner. Kitchen equipment were old but there was potable water available for free. Place lacked totally hostel vibe and people minded their own business. Also San Pedro is an overpriced tourist trap for Americans. Definetly consider Caye Calker because of cheaper prices and more chill vibes.

We loved our stay here. The roof top pool was amazing, location was great, the bed was the best bed I've ever slept on. I need one at home. Staff was awesome too. Breakfast is meh. I wish the room was just a tad bit bigger, but you could tell it was recently remodeled and was lovely.

If all your heart desires is a comfy bed, aircon and curtain to seclude yourself after the immense feeling of regret for choosing to stay at San Pedro, then this place is for you! It’s soulless but compared to the rest of San Pedro, it will feel like a Motown Den in 1970s New York. If you’re thinking about going to San Pedro, don’t, and go to Caye Caulker. You’re welcome. Also, to Sandbars credit, the rooms and bathrooms were super clean and the staff were great.

Excelente por su calidad/precio

The hostel itself is actually very nice and has the perks of being a hotel too so can access the pool. The free breakfast is nice and a good money saver and kitchen is well stocked for making your own meals. the restaurant next to it is nice. Not a fan of San Pedro, as a female traveller the vibe was uncomfy and everyone was very starey when walking around.

Clean, pleasant and convenient experience. free breakfast and paddle boards is a nice touch. lots of games to play too. kitchen and bathrooms are great. there’s no social events and it’s an older crowd - more holiday makers than backpackers.

This place was amazing- way better than the photos. Private room is an excellent value.

the dorms are great, have space for all the luggage inside the lockers, each one has its own private space with ports and a shelf and light. the facilities are verry good, free washing machine to use, good kitchen and communal areas. right on waterfront and two minutes to the city main street and supermarkets.

Incredible hostel, comfy beds, free access to laundry, breakfast and paddle boards. Staff were lovely and great at giving information. Also reasonable price in a generally expensive place, I couldn't recommend it enough

It’s a hotel and hostel so the age mix is pretty big, which is totally fine but there are a lot of creepy older men

Leuk hostel! Goede sfeer, zowel een keuken als een restaurant. Locatie goed!

The location is perfect and there's a rooftop bar and pool, what more could ask for? Oh ya, it's cheap as hell and gives free breakfast!
