I didn’t go to the hostel at all until it was time to sleep. the rooms were 25 minute walk away from the main road, you get to reception and check in then walk 10 minutes through a dangerous bush trail to get to your room and when it’s dark and you have to use a maze to try get home it’s ridiculous. The security levels were worrying and there was no lockers to put anything as the door to the dorm is left wide open at all times.
Finca Zopilote is a truly magical place. The permaculture farm provides delicious fresh food to the restaurant and every day is full of activities and chances to learn. All of the volunteers and staff are incredibly welcoming and the environment is beautiful. There is no place like Zopilote.
All the staff are so warm and friendly. I truly feel at home here. The food is great and all natural from the farm. There is always activities happening and all well organized. You must come visit when you come to ometepe!! Such a magical place❤️❤️
Great hostel! It has a very warm and familiar atmosphere that makes you feel at home right away. It’s surrounded by nature, right in the middle of the jungle, which makes the whole experience even more special and peaceful. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, and it’s easy to connect with people. There are meny classes, workshops and things to learn. If you’re looking for a place to slow down, enjoy nature, and feel part of a small community, this is definitely the perfect spot.
What an amazing place! Beautiful permaculture farm/hostel on a lush green volcano. The people working here are great, the vibe among the guests is amazing, and there’s loads of fun, active and inspiring workshops to attend everyday. Would definitely recommend el zopilote, this place feels like a home away from home!
Uno dei migliori ostelli dove sia mai stato, persone stupende ed esperienza indimenticabile immerso nella giungla
Cool place with cool people. Lots of activities during the day - yoga, dance, permaculture, etc. They have incredible organic home grown products. Great menu & food! Accommodation was a bit dirty and no fan, was hot but the lands themselves were beautiful. Great community and place to get to know some fellow travelers.
Great little hippy hotspot for nature and sustainable living lovers! You'll either love it or hate it, so know what you're looking for and what you're not! My accommodation was very far away and it wasn't lit at all at night so I got lost a few times, even with my light. I'm all for sustainability but there are some basic safety and practicality considerations that I would suggest, such as at least using some solar lights to indicate the turn off, and show the path from reception to the rooms...
Zopilote is so great, feels like camping though. Very hippie!! :)) great family dinners with good veggie and vegan options, the fire and activities are so awesome and cool, people there are super nice and cool, walk up (about 5-7 mins) a bit rough with a big heavy bag but worth it, try to come before dark though! Pizza night is AWESOME! Defs recommend but watch out seriously for the ants they sting bad. 5 min walk from raindance.
Bizarre, dirty hostel full of hippies. I’ve stayed in many many jungle hostels but this is by far one of the worst. Cabins are absolutely infested with insects, animal faeces in the showers, rooms without fans or AC and mosquito nets that are full of holes. Also a dark jungle walk in the middle of nowhere to get to the hostel which made many of my friends unsafe. The only ‘redeeming’ feature is the staff are friendly and the food is quite good.
Checked in and check straight out. Super dirty and the showers have no doors. The pizza was unreal though, one of the best pizzas I’ve had travelling
What a terrible place
Everything fine, nice food.
What can I even say, flies everywhere, toilet is a hole in the ground, showering with cockroaches, staff were nice but that is the only good thing, not social very hippy vibe so if that’s your thing go for it. 15 minute HIKE up to the actual hostel. It’s the worst place I have ever stayed
It was incredible, I couldn’t recommend it enough. The people were friendly, the events and workshops were incredibly handled and it was clear that the people running them were experts. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!
It's nice and good exercise walking around this property
El Zopilote is very hippy and rustic, but they don’t pretend to be anything else. The staff is kind, they keep things clean (as clean as they can in the jungle), the activities are fun and it is a very social atmosphere. Things to note: it is quite the hike up to the hostel and I recommend arriving during the day the first time. Accommodations are basic with compost toilets and limited showers.
