Cats everywhere, power outage, which meant rooms were super hot! There was cat s*** in the common space!

Absolutely zero vibe. Weird as it’s in the centre of town but I was one of two guests staying there and I was in a 10-person dorm by myself - felt quite scared and unsafe. When showing me to my room, the dude literally picked my sheet up off the floor and then took me to my room and left the sheet on the bed…

Wouldn’t stay here again. It was pretty gross. Cockroaches in bathroom. We stayed at the same time as a group of 18 year old boys who stayed up till 3 every morning with loud music and didn’t clean up after cooking so we couldn’t use the kitchen and there were ants everywhere. I understand that wasnt the hostels fault but they didn’t do anything to enforce rules. Very cramped in dorms and sooo hot. Especially as the power cut out throughout the night and there was no fan. Javier is great, and helpful. not much vibe happening here. not sure how the rating is so high. I was pretty disappointed but of course the location is great

Decent place to stay in the centre of San Juan. It’s a small hostel and you get to know most the people staying there. Main downside is the lack of comfy places to chill in the hostel meaning you won’t spend much time here apart from to sleep and eat

We got a private room with AC which was nice as not a lot of hostels in SJDS offer that. The shower was cold but that was ok since we were so hot. The kitchen was ok and no atmosphere really with other travelers. We also had people eat our labeled food (not the hostel's fault). Javier and the staff are nice as long as you make an effort to speak Spanish. The location was super close to everything.

Spent £100 on a private room with AC for 3nights. All was great until one of the hosts tried scamming us on the Laundry. He told us 100cs/kilo which we were happy to pay (though it was 70/kilo down the road). Once done, he told us it cost 500. We had the bag weighed-the actual cost should've been 340cs for a 3.4k bag (not 5k bag!). We offered this to the man, he shook his head and told us to go away. We left 350 in the room the morning we left. Bit disappointing and let themselves down.

Pros: bed and shower were good, good location,aircon in the private room was great - Cons: layout of the hostel was weird, very narrow so felt very cramped, especially in the kitchen. The kitchen was also quite poorly stocked, not much to work with given the number of people staying at the hostel

I dont know why the rating is so high. Our room had a very strange/moldy smell, which kept me up all night. We dont know what it was, but I would not sleep there again. Besides that its a nice hostel

We arrived at the hostel and they said we got the wrong location and had us walk about 10 minutes to someone’s house very out of the way, this had a few rooms and a shared kitchen. Fridge was off and very dirty, had no cutlery and definitely would not be classed as a kitchen. Room was okay but bathroom could have been cleaner. Can’t rate the hostel as didn’t stay, but be aware you might be placed in the other location far away from town.

Tres bon hostel avec les propriétaires très accueillants et très agréables. On s y sent bien et le prix est correct pour San Juan.

We loved our stay at Javiers, he was even kind enough to include our air on for free as we were staying for four nights! The kitchen functioned well enough and his breakfasts in the morning were delicious

Great location and nice rooms, the fans were very good so AC was not necessary. The staff were super nice and accommodating. Overall would highly recommend!

Very nice hostel, pretty well located, staff is very very nice and helpful. Private rooms are functionnal, AC option is recommended. Courtesy breakfast, delicious banana pancake and coffee. When I visited, San Juan wasnt that lively, so the hostel lacks atmosphere.

The location of the hostel is great, it is close to the bus drop off and close to the beach. I was lucky and had the entire room to myself. It is near other restaurants/bars so at night you could hear the music. They offer free breakfast, unfortunately I did not get to eat it since I had to leave very early.

Une nuit dans cet établissement. Le rapport qualité prix (50$) n’était malheureusement pas à la hauteur pour nous…Nous avions une chambre au rez de chaussée, la soirée et la nuit ont été très bruyantes. La chambre donne sur le couloir et l’accueil qui donne elle même sur la rue, d’où le bruit et le manque d’intimité. Le rideau n’était pas assez occultant et laissait passer beaucoup de lumière. Par contre, l’emplacement est top, en plein centre et le petit déjeuner �...

Javier is a great and helpful host, always took care to provide best service.The rooms are nice and clean and have AC. It also has a comfortable terrasse. Full recommendation!

Staying at Javier’s house was nothing short of a pleasure. We stayed in a private with en-suite and AC, the room was clean and comfortable and Javier regularly offered us new sheets. Javier himself is an absolute legend, so chatty and helpful- the best Hostal host I’ve ever met. Thanks so much for everything Javier, especially the Spanish with maddie (and Javier’s dad too)!

We enjoyed our stay at Javier’s House. Great location and clean facilities, we didn’t notice any bad odor mentioned in previous comments. Javier was kind and helpful. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Chilled and relaxed place to stay. Breakfast included big pancake with fruits and coffee.

Nice and quiet hostel, we had a private room and were very comfortable. The staff were kind and the breakfast was a really good pancake with fresh fruit!

Fantastic place to stay. Our private room was out of service due to a broken sink, however, staff rectified this by providing us the bunk room with an ensuite and airconditioning privately. Great location, close to the beach, highly recommend.

I had a really nice time at Javier's house. He and his family who run the hostel are really kind and considerate. They take care of the guests and are willing to give up good advices. I recommand bringing earplugs though since the hostel is situated downtown, with bars around. I didn't have problems at all to fall asleep with my earplugs, but probably would have without. The matresses are really comfortable and the other guests in the hostel were really quiet and respectful. Thanks again Javier!
