I do not recommended this hostel. We had rats in our room through the night. Reception was closed so I got no sleep scaring them away all night. When I spoke to them the next day, they just laughed. There was rat faeces on a clean bed and the staff just flicked it off. The second night a girl found a rat in her bag (no food in there) and they were jumping on the beds. The other rooms seemed ok but DO NOT STAY in room 19. The waterslide was fun and the food was ok but the pool table unusable.
Not a good experience. Booked 3 months in advance, showed up and they told us they don’t have a bed for me. “Overbooking error” or something of the sort. They did have a bed for be 30 minutes away in their other Hostal which they provided transport to after an hour of waiting for the shuttle. Showed up at the new hostal and it wasn’t great. El Portal I think it was called. Wet sheets on my bed, nasty facilities etc. Both places they have you trapped to buy expensive food. Fair warnin...

There is no offense and it's not worth your time there are mosquitoes everywhere the food gave me stomach pain and it's just expensive I don't recommend going there
I had a lot of issues with this hostal. they made several errors with their book keeping and tried to over charge me several times for tours i didnt take, transport they never sent to me, and then at the end of my trip, they forgot to charge me for my final night and the shuttle to the airport, and forced me to then go to an atm to pay for their mistake after the fact
Really did not enjoy our stay here would not recommend this place to people that aren’t local to Guatemala or speak fluent Spanish. The staff made us feel unwelcome and on several occasions were rude to us. The food is overpriced and not nice and there is no kitchen for guests to use. Laundry is expensive. The rooms were clean but dirt kept falling on the bed from the ceiling.
Unfortunately this place needs a lot of improvements. The potential is there, the area and view is beautiful… We arrived in the dorms to find only a sheet and thin cover was provided, on an 8 degree night! when we asked for blankets we were given one more thin cover… not enough! Showers also don’t have hot water, it was freezing the whole time we were there. The staff doesn’t seem to care or mind. Cleaners got into the room to clean and make the beds at 9 am while I was still in bed �...
Bonne localisation, restaurant correct et chambres très mignonnes. Wifi désastreuse (si vous n’avez pas de 4G illimitée ou êtes digital nomad oubliez), pas d’eau dans la douche notre de mon dernier jour, service de laundry hors de prix (l’équivalent de 10€ pour un sac de vêtements, prix au vêtement et pas au poids), pas d’électricité ce matin j’avais heureusement chargé mon téléphone en amont. Expérience qui aurait pu être agréable mais ternie par ces multiples ratés.
Disastrous Wifi (if you don't have unlimited 4G or are a digital nomad forget it), no water in our shower on my last day, pricey laundry service (equivalent to $10 for a bag of clothes, price per garment and not by weight), no electricity this morning I had luckily charged my phone upstream.
If you are travelling then AVOID this hostel. mainly local families and not social at all. The staff were incredibly rude and couldn’t be bothered, often laughing at guests, and the food was inedible, and expensive. The pool and river were the only highlight of the hostel. The electricity on one of the days we were staying was off for most of the day which was not great, when i asked they said it will be back on at 4, then 5, then 6, then 7. Avoid!!
Das Hostel ist nicht empfehlenswert. Das Personal ist sehr unfreundlich. Beim Bestellen von Essen wurden wir am Tisch nicht beachtet, weshalb wir es an der Rezeption bestellten. Für Pasta warteten wir 1,5 Stunden mit Nachfragen, wo das Essen bleibt. Des Weiteren wartete ich eine halbe Stunde auf eine Cola, die ebenfalls einfach vergessen wurde. Danach wurde erst ein Essen eines anderen Tisches zu uns geliefert, was wir sofort reklamierten, woraufhin die Kellnerin sehr genervt reagierte.
The hostel is not recommended. The staff is very unfriendly. When ordering from Essen we were not noticed at the table, so we ordered it at the reception. For pasta we waited 1.5 hours with inquiries where the Essen stays. In addition I waited a half hour on a cola, which was also simply forgotten. After that only an Essen from another table was delivered to us, which we immediately claimed, to which the waitress reacted very annoyed.
Pour un hostel qui n’a pas de cuisine pour les voyageurs, pourrait au moins proposer de la bonne nourriture. Une fête a eu lieu hier soir, mais jusqu’à 4h du matin avec la musique de plus en plus forte. Chambre sous les feuilles de palmiers, tu suffoques si tu ne laisses pas la porte ouverte. Panne de courant une bonne partie de la soirée, mais tu vas me dire ça ne se fait pas rare. Et en prime un patron pas très agréable !
For a hostel that doesn't have a kitchen for travelers, could at least offer good food. A party was held last night, but until 4am with the music getting louder and louder. Room under palm leaves, you suffocate if you don't leave the door open. Power outage a good part of the evening, but you're going to tell me that's not uncommon. And in the bonus a not very nice boss!

rats in the room… if that’s not enough of a reason not to stay the staff literally don’t care. not social at all and food and drinks are overpriced and take forever to come. location good i guess but just pay that little bit extra and stay at Zephyr so you aren’t woken up to rats crawling over you
Very nice location, right next to the river in the jungle. Clean and well maintained facilities. It’s about a 15 minute walk to get to town. The dorms are fairly loud based on the construction, being mainly out of wood, especially if you have the downstairs dorm the wooden ceilings makes everything fairly loud.
I had a good stay at Hostal Oasis. Beautiful view on the river, peaceful (except of the hostal next door playing loud music all day and all night that unfortunately ruins a bit the tranquility of the place). Only downside is there is no kitchen or fridge to keep any food, and the staff don't allow you to eat any outside food. Beautiful area directly at the river, so perfect if you like nature and a relaxed atmosphere. Walking distance to the town of Lanquin. When we were there, the vibe was calm, so not a party hostel. As located in the jungle, you must be aware of animals being around, and our room was not really made to keep all of them out (we suspected mice being around). Showers were warm and staff friendly. Would recommend over all!

Dit was echt een top accomodatie. Naast de Semuc Champay tour die je vanuit dit hostel kon boeken, was dit een erg fijne plek om tot rust te komen. Liggen op de pier, genieten van de glijbaan en de trapeze, en zwemmen in de rivier. Verder was het personeel supervriendelijk en deden ze alles het hostel er netjes uit te laten zien. Het enige jammere was dat de douche koud was, maar gelukkig was het warm buiten dus was dat ook weer niet zo erg.
Besides the Semuc Champay tour that you could book from this hostel, it was a very nice place to come and rest. Lying on the pier, enjoying the slide and trapeze, and swimming in the river. Furthermore, the staff was super friendly and made everything in the hostel look neat. The only regret was that the shower was cold, but luckily it was warm outside so the weather was not so bad either.

lovely place on the river in lanquin. all the staff were local which was very nice. food was decent. nowhere to lock possessions
Really sweet place if you don’t mind being a bit outside Semuc Champey! The staff were really sweet and got to know us a bit over the 2 nights we were there. The place is very clean and the property is so pretty with the river and the pools. We would have loved to have a kitchen, but it seems like it’s fairly common in this area to rely on hostels for food so it was alright. The Semuc Champey tour was also super fun. Would recommend for a slower, quieter vibe!
Showers were freezing cold but to be honest it’s so humid in the day that’s it’s not bad. Good location and staff are really helpful and sweet. Food isn’t great and it’s a 15/20 min walk into Lanquin to get anything else.
It was a fine place to stay. It was clean. My first night there was incredibly quiet, in a dorm by myself. More workers than travelers. But it was nice to relax and a good spot to visit Semuc Champey. The food was a bit bland and felt overpriced for what it was though. Just better to eat in town.
Was it unusually cold when we were there? Yes. Is everything built for warm/hot weather? Yes. Should blankets have been provided and not just sheets for the night? Absolutely. Everyone was freezing even though we were sleeping with all our clothes. I don't expect a 5 star service but this should have been common sense. Also just 2 plug outlets for the whole room.

Pas d’eau chaude en tout cas dans les dortoirs, pas de locker, wifi inexistant, cafard dans le dortoir. Pas de cuisine en libre accès. La carte de la cuisine est chère par rapport à la qualité des plats. Heureusement que l’hostel est beau et que l’endroit est top. Le personnel aussi est très bien.
No hot water at all in the dorms, no locker, no wifi, caviar in the dorms. no open kitchen. the menu of the kitchen is expensive compared to the quality of the dishes. luckily the hostel is beautiful and the place is top. the staff is also very good.
This hostel Oasis was a good value that checks all my boxes. The tour of Semuc Champey was fun but very physically demanding.
Hostal Oasis has a beautiful location right on the river and a short walk from the Lanquín caves and town. However, the facilities were not the best. There were no security lockers, they don’t provide a lot of blankets and it does get a bit cold at night, the wifi does not reach the rooms and the beds don’t each have a charging port, plus no warm showers. Staff were friendly but frequently mixed up money amounts. The menu also left a bit to be desired (especially for vegetarians).

Un bel emplacement près de la rivière. Des bungalows de bois dispersés dans la verdure au dessus d'un restaurant agréable donnant sur la rivière(.prix correct). Le personnel est accueillant et efficace. On vient vous chercher à l'arrivée du bus. A conseiller! Juste un problème d'odeur désagréable dans la salle d'eau
Beautiful location near the river. wooden bungalows scattered in the greenery above a nice restaurant overlooking the river. price correct. the staff is welcoming and efficient. you are picked up at the arrival of the bus. a counsellor! just a problem with a nasty smell in the bathroom
Nice jungle location with easy access with tuktuks. The room was nice and private, however a bit loud. The shower was super super cold
