Banyan Camp Hambegamuwa

An incredibly special place. The staff were so helpful, the food was delicious, the huts were clean, spacious and unique. The lake is huge and great for going out and kayaking. Nature is all around. There’s a beautiful space for yoga. It was everything we had hoped for and so much more! We will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much all at Banyan Camp!

Great place and great activities - lake safari and river excursion were highlights

My stay here was absolutely AMAZING!!! Yass was the best host ever. The place is the most amazing place I’ve ever stayed. The food was incredible. It was my friend’s birthday while we were there, and the staff baked a cake, decorated our room with flowers, and let us have breakfast on the raft on the lake. It’s such a magical, unique, and authentic place, and I will definitely come back one day. I’ll recommend 10/10!!!

A special place in the middle of nature. Yazz is a truly amazing host, he gave us local recommendations that made the rest of our trip in Sri Lanka a very special experience. The food was superb and we really enjoyed the lake tour. Unfortunately we didn’t have the chance to experience the famous “dinner on the lake deck”, because the lake didn’t have enough water.

We loved it at Banyan camp! Not for the faint hearted, the rooms are not fully enclosed but it adds to the ambiance of the place Dinner on the first night was really special and lunch at the river was great.

Banyan Camp is a really special place! You enter a calm environment and will feel relaxed from the beginning. The staff is amazing and cares for you - felt like I was the only guest. Great atmosphere and good talks during meals and in the evening - thank you so much! The facilities are wonderful and adapted to the nature and all the animals. Will definitely come back! ((:

Diese Unterkunft ist ein wahres Juwel. Die Architektur ist wahnsinnig gut abgestimmt und auf die umgebende Natur angepasst. Man lebt dort zusammen mit den verschiedensten Arten von Tieren und wird von dem äußerst freundlichen Personal mit sehr leckeren Gerichten verwöhnt. Die angebotenen Aktivitäten sind außergewöhnlich und empfehlenswert. Dies war einer der schönsten Aufenthalte meiner Sri Lanka Reise!

Excellenter Aufenthalt mit einem fantastischen Gastgeber. Wer die Natur liebt, kommt hier auf seine Kosten. Am ersten Abend gab es das (bisher leckerste) Abendessen auf einem Floß mit anderen Gästen, ein tolles Erlebnis.

We absolutely loved our stay here and didn’t want to leave! Such a beautiful eco retreat. Our host Yaz was amazing- so welcoming, caring, knowledgeable and just generally a lovely human- really sets the community vibe high! This place is an absolute experience from dinner on a raft in the middle of a lake to lunch by some beautiful water holes in the river, SUP boarding, wildlife, the food, the people! Highly recommend!

Banyan camp is out of this world. Started with the check in and arrival you step out of time and slow down. I felt peace in every details. We really enjoyed our stay there. Everybody was super friendly, the food was amazing and I really recommend this place! Try out and enjoy the true freedom! :)
