Safe, clean, beautifullllll!!!!, Ingrid was so so kind and helpful, all other guests were extremely friendly and made our stay the best!! Kitchen is well equipped, bathrooms are clean, warm showers, beautiful outdoor seating. 10/10!!

Had a nice time here. Great people, view and atmosphere. My only complaints are there are not fans in the bedroom so it got very hot and humid in there. The location is too far to walk to town and the parking area is small requiring backing onto the highway but the scenery is great and we saw sloths in the backyard.

Really awesome property, the owner Fernando is very kind and helpful. The place is quiet with most travelers passing through for a couple days. Internet connection is strong and the deck is a great spot to read or get some work done.

What a fantastic hostel! It’s absolutely beautiful, inside and out. Everything I needed. Turrialba was pretty cool. Only stayed one night, in my way back to the San Jose airport. I’ll be staying there first for my next trip to CR. The views from the porch were stunning! So much to explore in the area. Clean, cozy and very safe.

Das Hostel eignet sich nicht unbedingt für Personen ohne Auto. Bis zum Zentrum braucht man zu Fuß etwa 30 Minuten. Ansonsten gerne wieder

We booked 1 day before and at arrival there was a note saying they were away for the weekend and we should look at the email received. Problem: we had received no email! Had to search for our dorm and it took time! Bad start, but when we could reach the owner and after when we finally met her, she was very helpful. Wifi was only available at the entrance of the common area, I work remotely so it was a huge problem for me. Don't mention free WiFi when it's only in YOUR office 😑 5🌟to the cle...

A very tranquil atmosphere. If you’re looking for somewhere to chill in nature, this could be it. However, it’s hard to get into town from the hostel, unless you have a car or are willing to wait a while got a bus. It’s a very quiet hostel, so there wasn’t a social atmosphere. Also, there were no staff around half the time, which was an issue for me and other hostel guests at times.

Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Hostel, die Bäder waren super und die Schlafsäle waren auch gut. Die Atmosphäre war sehr entspannt und sicher. Es wurden leider keine Aktivitäten angeboten, was dafür gesorgt hat dass kein Gemeinschaftsgefühl entstehen konnte. Zum entspannen und im Hostel bleiben war die Lage gut (Terrasse und Natur). Der nächste Supermarkt ist aber leider 30 Minuten zu Fuß an der Hauptstraße entfernt… die touren starten alle auch in Turrialba, weit weg vom Hostel.

Das schönste Hostel in dem ich bisher war. Es bietet viel Platz und eine angenehme familiäre Atmosphäre. Die Küche und der Wohnbereich sind schön und gut ausgestattet. Die Terrasse ist sehr groß und schön. Die Zimmer waren sauber und die Badezimmer waren die besten die ich in ganz Costa Rica erlebt habe. Im Schlafzimmer konnten wir leider keine Steckdosen finden, aber da man die meiste Zeit im einladenden Wohnzimmer verbringt war das kein Problem.

Spanish by the River is a lovely place to stay! I only stopped over for the night before moving on from Turrialba but I would have liked to stay longer. The only downside to the hostel is the distance from town. Its about a 30 minute walk down the hill but its manageable. There are also buses for most of the day but it did feel a bit removed. The staff is welcoming, the hostel itself is homey, and the facilities were great!

What a wonderful place! The grounds are amazing and make you feel like you booked a high end lodge. Very honest and welcoming hosts! The street noise maybe hard for light sleepers, so I suggest ear plugs. I would stay there everytime I came to the area or recommend this to anyone visiting Costa Rica.
