coole Erfahrung in der Hängematte zu schlafen, sehr schöne und ruhige Umgebung, nachts logischerweise sehr laut (Vögel & Regen)
I had a great stay!
Love this place. I will definitely be back!
It’s built in great location-great view and quietness at same time ( except frogs ) . I was lucky there were two chefs around staying so great cooking experience was added to very pleasant stay. I really enjoyed sleeping in hamaku in hamak ;)
I'm so glad we decided to stay here! The hammocks were surprisingly comfortable. I slept great each night and woke up with the sunrise coming through the cabana and the roosters crowing in the distance. All amenities were perfectly adequate for our needs. I would definitely stay here again!
It has charm, but the place doesn't seem well kept. Signs are everywhere to help you navigate the space which is helpful. There's no microwave and the fridge is SUPER tiny with nobody following the assigned spaces. Hammocks are itchy and the lagoon area is not easy to get to or well labeled once you make it past the bamboo gate near 2 other houses.
It was my first time sleeping in a hammock and I loved it. The area is really peaceful and the starry sky in the night is just amazing there. You can also see the sunrise right from your cabin. I would definitely stay here again.
Our stay at the hamakua guesthouse was delightful. The cabana was clean when we arrived and we throughly enjoyed sleeping in a Hammock. Aisha was the star of the show. Her positive and bubbly attitude was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this hostel to any potential guests.
I really enjoyed my stay. The hammocks were very comfortable! I woke up to a beautiful sunrise from my hammock!
We had a ball staying here! We booked as we wanted a fun rural experience staying in the hammocks. It was a short drive to Hilo and from the things we wanted to do on the east side of the island so great location. All facilities were good and a bonus was the waterfall over the road for a morning swim! A little gem for somewhere unique and ‘wild’ to stay
It has been a perfect, low-key base for my day trips. Just the level of “retreat” that I needed. The other patrons have all been friendly, helpful and interesting.
Awesome place, definitely recommend!
A unique guesthouse with great indoor/outdoor atmospheres + SO many thoughtful touches. Sleeping in the hammock was memorable but had challenges—they can get cold if others leave the weather curtains open, and the synthetic blankets trap heat & don’t breathe. Charging is only available in the main house & the tree frogs are charming but can be loud. Location is lovely but very remote, with no nearby supermarkets, gas stations, etc. If you know what to expect & come prepared, you'll love it...
Had an amazing time at the guesthoues. I even extended my stay on Big Island to stay here longer! Sleeping over there, surrounded by the jungle and its sounds whilst rocking inside your hammock, really was a highlight of my trip. Gazing at the stars or even seeing the moonlight reflecting off of the ocean surface in the far distance, it was magical. The people who happened to visit the guesthouse and socialize were also great, we made a lot of awesome memories together at the guesthouse and also...

Perfect rural retreat. The hammocks were a completely new experience for me and my friend. The staff were friendly, and the kitchen was perfect for our needs. Of course, as it's rural, a rental car is a must, and some of the pot holes on the way are quite large! My favourite ever hostel stay - hammocks, sunsets, beautiful night sky
Hamakua Guesthouse was a hidden gem - clean, well organized, excellent communication from Mat (property manager), living spaces were great with privacy and open air during the night, hammock was surprisingly comfortable, kitchen well equipped with everything a traveler needs, places to store food, refrigerator items, freezer, drinking water, tea kettle, bathrooms clean and everything you need for day trips (umbrellas, beach towels, coolers, beach chairs, and beach gear), meeting spaces, WiFi ...
Amazing experience in thw Cabanas. The Hammocks are comfy and the location is the most Hawaian style you can find. The common area, fridge and the free stuff made it even better. Very clean and friendly housekeeping staff.
Awesome views to the ocean, located in the contryside (really quiet), but you need a car to get there. House and rooms are equiped with everything you need. If breakfast is included, this will be a coupon for the nice little café in the near village. Only downside is the quiet hour already starting at 9pm, 10pm would also be enough.
I love this place , fully recommended
