very chill hostel, super nice staff and exceptional beds. if you want a bit of chill this is your spot
Great place, extremely friendly and helpful staff, upgraded my room for free on arrival and the most comfortable bed I've slept in since arriving in Japan. Only issue would be noise as its an old building near the train line but they do mention that when booking so no complaints more a heads up to anyone looking to book
Good hostel
A wonderful experience!
Chill place to stay with an amazing rooftop to watch sunset as trains fly past. Not overly social but was a nice break after Osaka nightlife. Staff were super helpful too.
J’ai adoré cet endroit. L’atmosphère était invitant, beau et calme. Les chambres étaient agréables, et le matelas très confortable. J’y retournais volontiers !
Very lovely and friendly staff. Comfy beds, great facilities. Liked the rooftop, very nice and clean rooms/bathrooms, good location by several metro stations. Nice common areas!
great value, enjoyed my stay!
Great stay, I can’t speak for the dorms. Luckily I got upgraded to a private for free which was a nice break from the hostels I’d been staying in. Hostel is quite if that’s what you like and it doesn’t seem like they have a big focus on trying to have there guests engage with the local community. After being upgraded I took the opportunity to get some rest in and spent most of my time at the hostel.
Great location for real local options. Staff gave great recommendations for dinner and sightseeing.
Guesthouse Maya is really clean, comfortable and pleasing to the eyes. I slept in a 5 bed dorm and it was very spacious compared to other hostels I’ve used in Japan. The staff were friendly and great to chat to. They had great recommendations for food and activities in the area. The downstairs area is a good place to meet and talk to other travellers at the hostel. I appreciated that some travellers were Japanese, as I was able to practice speaking Japanese with them.
if you want to experience local places in Japan, this hostel would be the great choice! All of staff is so kind and friendly, the location is pretty close to the sannomiya station so you can come home easily. It was my best experience in Japan so far! Thanks :)
A very cozy stay. Not to close to anything, but you could get to the main attractions in a few metro stops or a 20 min walk. Not a big deal considering the price of the stay. Check in took a little (!) too long. But in all seriousness it was a very nice stay. Would return.
I really like the cozy atmosphere and the nice staff working at Guesthouse Maya, they were so nice!! :) the bathroom/shower room as well as the dorm room (was in mixed dorm) had everything you'd want and more (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, blowdryer, tissues, cotton swabs etc.). The only downside for me were the creaky wooden beds and thin walls but I guess a good sleeper/good ear plugs solve that. Thanks for having me!
Really enjoyed my stay here!! Highly recommend if you want a social environment! Staff was also very helpful on navigating the city! Was lucky enough to be a part of a night tour/hike to view the city. Will definitely be back when I visit Kobe!!
a really nice place to stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful
Absolutely loved my time at Guest House Maya. Had some late night chats with staff and other guests, and the atmosphere in the common rooms and house were very charming. Would definitely stay again, and was one of my favorite stays in Japan this trip.
I stayed for 4 nights and requested a bottom bed, they told me the beds were already reserved (?) how is this possible when Rhett haven’t even checked in yet? And every person on bottom bunk only stayed one night, I feel my request should have been met. It was very hot in the room even with ac on but for some reason someone kept raising it to 25. Again why??? Sometimes it was even shut off. The steps are very steep, feels like climbing up a wall. If you don’t hold on you will fall backwa...
staff were brilliant, lots of great recommendations and a pass for the Mt Maya ropeway. nice bunks, clean bathrooms, not much of a social vibe but that's okay sometimes
The room was very close to the train tracks and the stairs to reach it are really steep. Apart from this, the hostel is very clean, close to public transport and to a nice shopping street but not exactly downtown.
