Hotel AVAlex

I booked my room last minute and primarily because of the location. However, I will definitely not come back here and would not recommend the ho(s)tel to anyone. What you get for your money is not worth it and there are much nicer places to stay in Berlin for more or less the same price. PRO: location CON: quality of the bed (horrible), thin walls and doors (noise from other rooms), light bulb that doesn't turn completely dark when switched off, few shared unisex bathrooms, not always clean

Very bad welcoming no reception it’s just a desk the lady was very cold. No heating for the last 24h. Got locked outside the room after shower the last day. Key was desactivated before check out not friendly. Be careful pictures doesn’t show all.

Pros: -perfect location, a 15 minute walk to alexanderplatz and a 3 minute walk to the nearest tram station. Yet it’s very quiet (located in a courtyard). -everything was clean, bathrooms were cleaned daily. The place was decorated nicely and smelled good. -convenient showers with a dry area in each one. -very friendly and welcoming staff. Willing to help. Cons: -the heating didn’t always work, hot water in the shower ran out after a while. -no elevator. -creaky floors in the hallway.

Clean facilities. Female only toilets. Comfortable beds in the private room. Overall felt very safe as two female travelers. Staff was very accommodating for our late arrival. They do come into the room daily to empty trash so be prepared for that if you need to sleep through the day. Not particularly a social hostel. No communal space, so not a good place to really meet other travelers. No kitchen facilities, but the döner next door is delicious.

A very good, clean place to stay. It is not too difficult to get to and from the center. The laundry machines are not in the hostel itself but rather belong to the laundromat next door- not much of a problem because the price is similar to what you would expect from a hostel. Generally I would say AVAlex was easy and relaxing :)

I spent a few days here for a city break. Great location near alexanderplatz with lots of public transport connections. Friendly staff, very clean rooms and just as described. No social areas so not the best if you want to meet others. Great for a couple or friend's city break. Would come again 👍🏻

This is a good choice if you're just looking for an affordable place to sleep in a decent location (in between Alexanderplatz and Prenzlauer Berg). Nothing more, nothing less.
