Box Inn Jiufen

We were going to stay a few nights, but cancelled the remaining nights. This was due to black mold and lack of cleanliness. This isn't a bad review it's an honest one. The walls and curtains had black mold growing on them. The beds seemed like the sheets hadn't been changed. The bathrooms were generally dirty. You can tell the hostel had a lot of care and thought in the past. I fear the same level of care is not with us. NOTE: The black mold might not be exclusive to this hostel but ...

It was an OK stay here. There was just an odd atmosphere because staff were rarely around and in the common area and bathroom area it looked like a random storage facility or something. Also our room was listed as a 9 bed dorm, but it actually fits 17 as a lot of the beds in there are doubles. This was misleading and therefore was louder and busier, luckily not all beds were filled though. The metal stairs were not comfortable to go up and down to the bathroom, especially if you’re top floor.

Such a gem. I absolutely loved spending a night here and I hope to be back.

Does the job for a night in Jiufen. Bed is comfy and clean. Good privacy curtain. Shower is hot and warm with good pressure. Basic and quiet but very good access for the town.

The girl working there (I didn't get her name) was very lovely and friendly. I went a little bit before check in time to drop my bag off but they just checked me in without me even asking. Very good location and nice rooftop terrace with views out across the sea. Showers are hot with good water pressure. They are downstairs but there are toilets in the Dorm rooms. Owner and staff were really kind! I just wish there was space to lock up my stuff and more areas to change.

Great hostel and the host is absolutely amazing, highly recommend!

Great place to stay, the lady that run's the show is very friendly and helpful, always happy to help you. Nice part of the country, lot's of walking, and the main tourist shopping street is right at your doorstep if you like that sort of thing, good food there, but the crowd's of tourist's and the tourist type shop's is just a bit over the top, thankfully after 7.30pm they all close.

Nice hostel in the heart of Jiufen. It has a small but nice common room with a kitchen. Beds are comfy and bathrooms are clean. Rooms are a bit too small for the number of people but overall ok. The staff are very nice and welcoming people that will help you enjoy your stay.

Great location just off the old street, very kind host and good atmosphere.

A very nice place to stay in jiufen. Inside the town, next to the old street. Beds are comfy, AC works well, showers have hot water with good pressure. Spend some time to talk to Max, who's very kind and has nice stories to tell :)

Box Inn is well located in the middle of the old street, it has a beautiful terrace with an amazing view over the city. The owners/ personnel are nice with very limited English which made communication hard. Only limited time at reception and quite delayed responses to messages made check in/ check out complicated (wanted to leave my bag at the facility as I was arriving earlier) If you look for an accomodation in the city centre, it might be still useful tho :)

Super cute hostel, beds were comfy and had good curtains. Location couldn’t be better and the rooftop terrace has such a good view.
