Lunas Castle

When I arrived at the hotel it began badly when the receptionist tried to not honour the price quoted by hostel world. After I complained it was honoured. The water is only turned on at certain times. There is no 24 hr security, I questioned this on arrival the response was that the police outside are the security. The reception is regularly unmanned and the keys are universal for every locker in the building, so anyone could get your stuff. Felt incredibly unsafe that I left after one nig...

Hostel and its facilities were okay. There's definitely no security and lockers cost extra to rent, but I didn't ever feel unsafe. My main problem and why I will not recommend staying here is that there is a club directly underneath. They were playing bass-heavy music all night and it was difficult to sleep through even with ear plugs. Literally all night and into the morning. It was heard all the way through checkout.

I would not recommend this place. On the weekend at night and morning, the music in the club downstairs is deafening.Then there were water cuts at some times of the day (it's not a temporary issue.), so you could not flush the bathrooms. The bathrooms were not clean. The staff was nowhere to be found most of the time. The front door is wide open, and the dorms don't lock. The dorms were very basic (no curtain etc). I would say the only perks are the price and very good location.

The place is dirty and they don't clean it even after I asked. The water in the entire building only works at certain hours, which is very inconvenient if you want to use the toilet/shower. There is no serious reception service, you have to look for the clerk for a long time. In short, a really inappropriate place, needs urgent improvement in basic things

Horrible!! Don't stay at this hostel, it's a hostel with a nightclub, it's impossible to sleep with the noise of the club, there's no water practically all day long in the place, poorly organized, old building, the bathrooms on the second floor are horrible, and the owner and the staff are very rude.

You get what you pay for. Overall a weird atmosphere, very random decor. Didn’t feel as safe because there were no locks in the rooms, only lockers in the reception for your valuables. There was constant loud music in the bar underneath. Both night and sometimes in the morning. Beds were comfortable, but with very cheap feeling sheets. Staff was friendly. Had a small language barrier, where some of them didn’t speak English. Located right by the old town, which was great!

Geht auf keinen Fall in dieses Hostel! Einige der Schlafräume befinden sich IN einem Nachtclub, d.h. wenn man nachts raus möchte muss man durch eine Party Menge. Dementsprechend ist der Lärmpegel auch unerträglich im Raum. Es gab kein Wasser von 20 Uhr bis 8 Uhr morgens. Die Betten waren alle in einem 10er dorm mit undefinierbaren Insekten Eiern verseucht, sodass wir nachts überstürzt das Hostel wechseln mussten und das Geld auch nicht zurückgekriegt haben. Erspart euch diese Erfahrung!

Lunas Castle is dead. Don’t Go! The Place used to be the Go-To Hostel in Panama City and Casco Viejo, but after its established owners left because of the pandemic, the new owner only have the name and location left. No vibe or atmosphere, no connections or deals, no special offers or anything included. You have to pay for everything that used to be included. Dorm beds are way too expensive for the overall quality of the place, AC is only on for 2 hours a night, no water at all or if asked...

The staff were extremely friendly and kind. They took good care of me. It is a very clean hostel, very safe. However, there were some issues... It is on top of a bar that plays loud music all night. I couldn't sleep. The water shut off throughout the day, so I would have to ask them to turn it on to take a shower. The A/C was on a timer that started from 11 pm, but I sleep early, usually around 9:30 - 10, so it wasn't comfortable. I was their only guest at the time, so I can't say much about the...

Beside that I was the only guest, most of the facilities were not installed or working. When you wanted to take a shower you had to ask them to turn on the water several times, it was super load - one side a night club and the “quiet” side went to the main road and you could listen all the people partying too. It somehow was not allowed to enter the kitchen - in a hostel. They only had on contact to a private guide. The mattresses were super uneven and more than uncomfortable - very bad stay...
