I loved the place... it is so charming. And the houselady is so friendly. I booked a bed in a 8 dorm, but she gave me a bed in a complete empty room, so i had all the room for myself. Thank you, I would recommend it to all the free spirits, not to people who want a overclean, cold room in a cool environment. Wim from Belgium
Nice relaxing spot, lovely building!
The rooms were very cozy and comfortable. Jan was friendly and explained all the facilities and the check in was super easy and quick. A cozy place and definitely value for money,
Jan was very helpful in working out accommodation at the last minute when they were already practically fully booked. Nice friendly cosmopolitan people staying. Mostly people who enjoy the outdoors. There is a variety of types of rooms etc. The facilities were easy to use and whole experience good for budget minded people.
Eine gute Unterkunft für eine kurze Reiseunterbrechung bzw den Start in die Catlins
I didn't spend so much time there since I came late and departed early, but it was all fine to me.
Super Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, Küche gut ausgestattet und geräumig und Bäder sauber. Nicht sehr sozial für Solobackpacker, viele Familien mit Kindern aber wirklich empfehlenswert!
Really friendly and great place to stay
The Lodge was clean and in good condition. We booked a dorm room and had the room for ourselves, which was really cool. The room looked like it was recently renovated. Unfortunately the people staying there were living there permanently, and they were all men. They were really loud at night and in the morning. We didn‘t feel really safe in this accomodation.
Very nice Hostel! We had a great stay there. And the hostel manager is super sweet and helpful!
The owner, is lovely and welcoming. However, unfortunately this was one of the worst places I’ve stayed in. There was mouldy food in the fridge, and I took my milk out the next morning for breakfast and it was room temperature. A converted hospital seemed a cool idea, but I think a lot of work needs to be done as everything was very old and everywhere had a musty smell with no atmosphere. Obviously this would take more money which is not always practical, especially with Covid.
