Staff very lovely. There’s a good bus network and it’s near the bus and train stations. My issues here were mostly the people which I understand change. I usually pick female only dorms but there weren’t any available, personally being the only female in a mixed dorm makes me slightly uncomfortable, and my roommates kept leaving the room unlocked, even having people from other rooms come in to speak to them. The kitchen and shared spaces were always very loud, limited space to just relax.
Two nights spent here, good hostel even if the beds are not very stable when you are upstairs. For the rest very good!
Un peu excentre mais auberge agréable
No air conditioning, which leads to having to leave the windows open on a ground floor unit. Multiple cobwebs in the room and dirty carpeted floors throughout the property. Bunkbeds have no curtains, no desk to place your things. Both bunkbeds had plugs but no shelf or desk to place your devices on while they’re being charged. No locking storage anywhere in the facility.
Great! But only accessible by ferry.
Cramped and smelly dorms. Probably because half the residents are permanent and leave their work stuff and shoes strewn across the floor. “Staff” seem to work a couple hours in the morning and afternoon. Can’t blame them much, they appear very underplayed. As it’s one of the only places to stay in Newcastle you’ll probably still find some decent people in the common areas to socialize with.
Me and two friends stayed at Backpackers Newcastle for 2 nights over the weekend in a 4 bed mixed dorm. The staff at the reception was very friendly and the room was okay for two nights but nothing more. At night the hostel was very quiet which was good to get some sleep. If you book this hostel please note that the bathroom is for all genders to use. Also, the rooms had no lockers or wardrobe to store own belongings. I would book it again but only for a short stay.
Séjour agréable dans cet hostel !! Merci pour tout !!
Very friendly personal and Backpackers
Leuk hostel!
Overall pretty clean, rooms were decent, employees were helpful. Other travelers were pretty friendly. There were a few issues between travelers while I was there but it still was a good time. Location was very close to the bus/trains, but a little far from downtown.
I enjoyed my stay. All areas were clean. Didn’t feel crowded.
Eher außerhalb und die Leute waren nicht so freundlich. Zudem war die Küche morgens ab 9/10 Uhr für eine Stunde geschlossen zum putzen. Wirklich sehr ungünstig!
Just perfect !
For our three-day stay, the Backpackers Newcastle was a pleasant hostel in a reasonably good location. Unfortunately, the bathroom floor was always very wet, and the risk of falling was very high. More frequent cleaning would have been helpful. However, the evenings in the common area with the pool table were nice. Unfortunately, there is no water dispenser.
It was very cold, the carpet smelled unpleasant, at night just someone else came into the room and there are no lockers.
Good hostel
I would not recommend this place. I stayed in a room as the only person not in a group of long term renters who had been there for 4 months. Firstly the hostel is two houses that seem like a frat house. My room smelled terrible. There was no heating or cooling system. The showers were the only acceptable thing. If you are happy with a messy uni vibe then go ahead. The only security is a code on the gate. 0 places to store stuff, everything on the floor. Total mess. Should not be a hostel.
Lovely hostel, very clean, fantastic vibe and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is very close to the bus station and just a short train ride from a beautiful beach. The beds are very comfortable and pool table is free to use.
Recomendo. Fui a trabalho e fiquei poucos dias. Gostei do respeito de todos.
