Ngampilan Backpacker Hostel was amazing! It felt less like a usual hostel and more like a home stay— that just shows how welcoming and caring the owners are! We even got to sing Adele together! The hostel is in a great location and is very walkable to most places!
It was really nice to stay at the hostel. The owner and his wife are such friendly and welcome people. Always there for a talk and tips around the area. I did a few tours with his recommended Agency which where payable for cheap backpacking and good organised. The rooms and common areas are like you can see on the pictures. So all in all I will highly recommend this place!
It's a homey feeling to stay here. We spent 2 nights and would like to recommend anyone to stay here to feel the local vibes, experience the host artsy interest. It's clean, neat and close to various attraction and museum as well as the Malioboro street
Honestly great place to stay! The owners are a really nice couple, always available for information and for a chat, both the house and the garden are cosy and peaceful. Really recommend!
Does not feel like sleeping in a standard hostel but rather like being welcomed into a family home.
Very nice homestay. The owners are super friendly and helpfull. The garden is peaceful with a nice pond with koi fish, frogs and the birds make the nice tree their home. Inside the big city its the perfect place to relax.

Lovely hostel, the garden sitting area is very cute, the beds are comfy and each room has A/C with remote plus a fan. They have free drinking water a kitchen with coffee and tea and the owners are very kind and helpful. Would 10/10 recommend.
Your living with the host family in their house. Cozy, little rooms and the host is very friendly.
Very cute hostel with friendly hosts and a nice hang out area in the garden. Toilets are a little bit annoying as the showers are right next to them and they get wet .Overall a great stay tough.
Super friendly family! The location was great: about 20 minutes walk from the Malioboro street. The owners give you tips on what you can do. They are soooo sweet. The room and bathroom were very basic, but for me more then fine. If you’re Okay with the basics and no luxery, then this is perfect.

The owners of the hostel were great ! They are very welcoming and helpful. The patio of the hostel was a beautiful area for lounging. The location is close to Malioboro Street. You have to go down a narrow alley to reach the hostel. The rooms are a bit small but cozy.
I really liked staying in Ngampilan Backpacker hostel! The staff was amazing and the atmosphere was so quiet and friendly at the same time. It was easy to get in touch with other travellers. The location is central and far enough from the busy roads and traffic. Recommend it!
Very basic hostel and the bathroom situation where you stand in pee to shower is really bad! Rooms themselves were dirty and not up to western standards as well as bright all the way through the night. Would not recommend at all.
