Killarney Railway Hostel

The hostel is Not comfortable. There is no communal area to relax. The taps in the bathroom didn't work properly. There was one shower room for the whole hostel. The toilets were not cleaned regularly. Didn't sleep because the dorm next door was taken over by a group taking coke (the walls are very think so you could hear everything) and playing loud music. Receptionist was stoned so didn't bother complaining. Never again.

It would be nice to have some lockers in the room!

Not a bad place to stay. Bed was comfortable and everything worked. However, I found the cigarette smoke travelling inside despite shut windows very irritating, I wonder if smoking area could be moved a bit further from the building? The lack of storage space for luggage in the dorm was also slightly problematic.

La chambre pour 3 personnes ressemble à un couloir. 2 lits superposés sans échelle pour y monter. Les draps sales tellement dégoûtants (traces de sperm) que nous avons demandé des draps propres à la réception qui nous a assuré que le ménage avait été fait et nous a donné un seul jeu de draps, de très mauvaise grâce. Les poubelles des douches et sanitaires débordaient de boîte à pizza et autres détritus. Des papiers sales dans les douches, avec des poignées de cheveux. Tout ...

L’endroit est bien situé mais extrêmement cringe … il empeste l’odeur de la cigarette, les chambres sont étroites, sans lockers et sentent le renfermé tout comme les draps. Je ne me suis jamais sentie autant en insécurité non plus et je n’ai pas fait les deux nuits prévues.

Pas de cuisine car restauration de l’immmeuble, immeuble très vieux, pas propre, eau douche brûlante , pas possible de se doucher , clients dans les dortoirs bizard et pas sympa , marginaux

We stayed one night at the hostel. The staff was friendly and the location is really good but sadly it was still very much a construction sight (8.4-9.4). The room (4 bed) was still dirty from the construction (dirt built into the shower) and the light, when switched off, turned the whole room green (which we have been told is a fire requirement but in other hostels seems to have been solved differently). The room is very keen-eared and we were woken by loud music and talking in the morning.

Please remove this hostel from hostelworld.

Das Zimmer war dreckig, an der Toilette hin im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes noch Kacke! Die Mitarbeiter waren eher unfreundlich und wenig hilfsbereit. Dieses Hostel sollte nicht mehr auf Hostelworld angeboten werden!

This was our first stay in a hostel, the only problem for us was that there was no warm water in the showers first night of our stay, but otherwise it was good. We loved the staff, they were really helpful🙂

Overall a good stay, very close to the railway station and town centre. The kitchen area was not accessible (temporarily) during my stay but otherwise a decent hostel. Good value for money and decent locker facilities.

horrible. i thought reviews were being dramatic. no its disgusting, they don’t clean the sheets, the whole place smells terrible. im a solo female traveler and felt very unsafe, every time i was in the kitchen some old man was harassing me. stay literally anywhere else.

We didn’t feel confortable using the kitchen facilitéis cause they were dirty, and the beds also looked like use. The room smell was hideous. It reeked a lot due to the people in there… There were several homeless people and two of them were drunk arguing between them. Other than that, I have to say that Erika, the receptionist was very kind and nice. She helped us a lot and made us feel. I could be a nice place if they would keep it clean and forbid some people to enter.

I'm not crazy picky, the bed was fine. Bathrooms smelled constantly and clearly the toilets have issues as there are towels underneath each one. Kitchen had rotting milk, and no kettle. There was a boiler but it wasn't clear that it was food safe so maybe boil water in a pot? I know that it's up to luck who you room with but make it more clear that there should be some basic rules for the rooms. Like no loud talking with lights on all the way into the AM. And people had sex in the bed across!

Stayed here on December 23rd 2025, accommodation was brilliant, Erica checked me in early which was greatly appreciated, top person. Beds comfy, couches comfy, great night out with the lads doing 12 pubs!! I highly recommend this place, good prices and location is excellent also.

The facilities are kind of outdated. The showers are push activated and take forever to get the water warm. There isn’t really a friendly backpacker vibe here. Good for one night and then move on. Bonus free parking available.
