Castle Rock Hostel

Very nice staff and perfect location. The bed I stayed in was not particularly clean. No privacy in the dorms either, beds could benefit from having privacy curtains around them.

Amazing location! Lot’s of things going on in the hostel and people were very nice. The bathrooms and bedrooms were spacious and pretty clean. The only thing I didn’t love was that there were no curtains on the beds but I knew that going in.

What a place, good people and fun activities. Would recommend to anyone who would want to visit Edinburgh.

I loved how the hostel catered to different types of people- there were both loud and quiet common spaces. The free coffee and tea was awesome too. Also, staff were great. In particular, Jordan went out of her way to give me a good coo spotting recommendation (even contacting her friend for their advice). I really appreciated that :) The bathrooms often had hair on the walls, floor and sink, but I understand that in a large hostel that can be difficult to keep on top of.

Crazy good hostel. Super cool vibes and very social, they organize activities every night. The location is unbeatable, you can see the castle just in front from your window. Facilities are good and clean, rooms are confortable. Only minor complaint is the 4£ breakfast was very limited and not worth the price, the breakfast at High Street Hostel is way better.

great location with a lot of effort put into things to do in the hostel itself (kitchen, cinema, music/game rooms). rooms are a bit tight, even in case of a private room, so the common spaces help with that. shower was either very cold or very hot, though. but overall a fun vibe.

Bellissimo e staff super

Super! Nous avons passé une nuit dans cette auberge en dortoir de 16 personnes. Le personnel a été très agréable, le logement est propre et agréable, très bien décor. Il est possible d’y prendre le petit déjeuner pour un petit prix. Nous n’avons pas fait les activités, mais il y avait l’air d’en avoir chaque jour. En tout cas adresse que nous garderons pour un prochain passage!

I had a fantastic stay at Castle Rock Hostel in Edinburgh. The location is unbeatable — right in the city centre, next to the castle, which makes it perfect for exploring everything on foot.I arrived quite late, around 1 a.m., and it wasn’t a problem at all. Das Hostel hat eine super Lage. Nur die Mischung von Menschen mit verschiedenen Geschlechtern in einer Großstadt, wo gefeiert wird und Hostelgäste Alkohol getrunken haben und nachts zurückkehren, ist das Gefühl der Sicherheit für weibliche Gäste nicht 100%ig gegeben.

So glad we chose this place. Spectacular location, secure storage for belongings, clean and adequate lodgings. Plus great value for money! Would recommend to anyone (as long as you don’t mind stairs 😅).

Gorgeous location and very interesting hostel design. There are little bathrooms for the amount of people on a floor, yet they are quite clean. The staff is friendly at the desk, however it’s a tight knit so it’s awkward when you have to be in the kitchen at the same time and everyone ignores you.

Great Hostel to stay as a solo traveler in Edinburgh! They offer events every day (even organised multi-day trips). I met the best people and enjoyed my stay 100%, will definitely stay here again soon☺️
