Absolutely lovely hostel, filled with people of all ages and walks of life. Not a crazy party place but still social, with excellent, very friendly staff and activities on offer. The location felt very safe and well placed to visit most major attractions, everything was very clean and well attended to. As a female solo traveller I could not recommend more.

Das ist mit Abstand das beste Hostel in dem ich je war. Die Mitarbeiter sind ausnahmslos super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das ganze Hostel ist sehr sauber und es war super einfach Kontakte zu knüpfen und nette Leute kennenzulernen. Man hatte vor allem abends seine Ruhe und konnte gut schlafen. Ich werde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und der höhere Preis ist es für mich definitiv wert!

Superb breakfast.From May choose a room with heating. heated blankets From are for bed time but chilling out in room is not possible. oil or fan heaters should be provided. Shops near by but always told to get a taxi from dusk. its 10 mins. In May the pool is not cleaned and it is not heated. Rooms need to be warmer from May.

Great vibe

Great stay at the BIG. Easy walk down to the waterfront but nice and quiet at night. Staff were lovely and always happy to help or just have a chat. Would definitely stay here again if in Cape Town.

Such an amazing hostel, really lovely atmosphere with a friendly but chilled space! My partner and I had a private room which was clean and comfortable! They also provide a delicious breakfast and lots of Cape Town activities you can sign up for with their WhatsApp group! Such a special place!!

I had the best stay at the Big!

One of the best hostels I’ve ever been to. From the kind staff, to the very clean rooms, everything was close to perfection. Would recommend, and will come back !!!

It’s a nice hostel but the bunk beds are so high and have no protection!! We had to put the mattress down to the floor as we felt so unsafe sleeping up there. Other than that, a bit loud in the common areas so it was hard to sleep and the vibes were not the best. Still clean and organized hostel!

Words cannot describe how amazing this place is. It's like staying in a sociable hotel while also feeling like you're in your own home. We had a friend staying at another hostel as they booked so last minute and The Big were really welcoming at having him over to hang out with us and Aluwis on reception was so considerate when he was leaving for an über at night, checking he was okay until it arrived. Every staff member goes out of their way to be friendly. We already want to come back.

The Big was the perfect stay for my partner and I. The staff were so helpful, we gave them a list of tours we wanted to do and they phoned and booked them for us which made our trip a lot easier. The location is great (20 min walk to V&A waterfront). It is very safe, this is something I was worrying about in Cape Town, but there is 24 hour security as well as electric fencing for precaution. Breakfast is provided with fresh bread every morning and fruit. We loved it so much we came back again �...

Stayed for 7 days, amazing location and the staff was amazing! meet a lot of great people here and had fun hanging out with everything, catching sunsets, eating together. Such a memorable experience. Such good vibes from the staff and we’re so helpful about everything. I was in the mixed room and it had a private bathroom! my first hostel experience and it was truly incredible! Breakfast was awesome! Will be staying here again the next time i’m in Cape Town.

It was simply amazing. The room and the whole property are so lovely, and the staff amazingly nice, kind and taking a genuine interest in their guests. Will return.
