What a lovely place, in the heart of Arles, small, but very sociable, it ticked all the boxes for me
Great hostel, with a lovely and helpful team and very nice atmosphere! I had a great time chatting with the other guests and the facilities are nice and comfy.
Super cute place and the owners are happy to help out with whatever you need. Don't expect it to very social but is perfect for relaxing
A rarity: colorful, creative, comfortable and somewhat cheap! A rare gem in the world of cold, anonymous HomeDepot/Ikea shlock jobs that prevail. This place has personality, artistry, soul!
Amazing place, amazing host, amazing experience
I had a perfect experience at L’Aubergine Rouge in Arles. I immediately felt at home in this cozy and unique hostel. Each room has its own concept and you can see that Eric put a lot of effort into designing even the small details. Eric, my host, took a lot of time to show me around the hostel and was always available if I had questions. The hostel has a well equipped kitchen and a community area where we could share stories and a lot of cheese. I hope to come back here one day!
I liked staying here, although, it wasn’t very secure and there wasn’t a door between the basement and the kitchen. There wasn’t a door for the bedroom but you could only lock it from the inside so if you wanted to leave your things there, there wasn’t anywhere to keep them safe. However, it was a really rural feeling house so it was alright to leave things in the room.
Auberge charmante ! Les lieux sont pleins de caractère. Bel accueil - on se sent toute de suite chez soi. J'espère y retourner !
A wonderful place & 1 of a kind experience! It's not really a hostel, because guests have separate bedrooms. I was in the Van Gogh room, which was extraordinary--it truly looks like the painting, with details such as a bottle of absinthe on the corner table (for show, not for drinking!). The whole house has character & is artfully decorated, including the stunning courtyard. And the hosts are charming--they treat you like guests in their home & are happy to share drinks & conversation at night.
This is by far the best place I stayed on my trip! The location was fantastic and I could easily walk to all sorts of interesting places. The culture of the place was also fantastic; the layout of the building encourages people into common spaces and I met plenty of interesting people during my trip. 10/10 would recommend.
It's really nice. Clean room, nice people. You can cook here also.
Wonderful time at L’aubergine rouge!! So clean and so homey, really enjoyed myself in their outside areas. The only complaint i have is the dorm (downstairs roman crypt room) as ur was humid and wasn’t ideal to sleep in. Definitely not the place if you have breathing issues. Maybe a bigger humidifier would help.
This hostel more than makes up for its lack of modern amenities with its abundance of rustic charm and atmosphere. The staff and all the guests were exceptional friendly and welcoming, we would all hang out, play chess and chat late into the night on the terrace. I slept in the crypt and while it wasn’t the most comfortable hostel room I have stayed in, (a little too damp), it was certainly the most memorable and I greatly enjoyed the novelty of the experience.
wonderful stay at L'Aubeegine Rouge! felt like home. very relaxed, clean, comfortable, and beautiful environment. short walk to all the sites of Arles. stayed in the crypt which was built in Roman times ~250 AD!
O Manu foi super atencioso, gentil e simpático. O espaço da cozinha é super aconchegante e propicia a interação entre as pessoas. A localização também é excelente. A experiência de dormir em um porão realmente não é pra todos.
Beautiful apartment. Quirkily decorated bedroom/s that really made for a memorable stay. Everyone was very helpful even walking with my to the station the morning I left to help me carry my luggage. Wonderful smell of jasmine from outside the bedroom window.
I stayed in the Van Gogh room which is presented like the painting La Chambre de l’Artiste, although it’s in mirror reverse but no matter. In addition, the ceiling is painted after his sky from Starry Night. There’s dozens of little touches like the bottle of absinthe, miniatures of his drawings and paintings on the walls and the door, clothes hanging behind the bed head, boots and things on the floor; it’s just all too wonderful. Everything about this place is charming and quirky.
Beautiful stay, felt right at home from the moment I walked in the door. Thank you Erik!
L’Aubergine is recent to hostelworld hence the lack of reviews but don’t be curtailed as this hostel is well established & certainly a unique experience not to be missed! I stayed in the crypt - it was warm & the bed was comfy but you must be agile for the staircase. Eric is very hospitable & welcoming & it was lovely to chat to other visitors in the outdoor space in the eve, lovely atmosphere. I felt absolutely at ease (24 female solo). Go to Arles & stay here for a memorable time!
