HI Areia Branca - Pousada de Juventude

Amazing stay, great location, friendly staff.

This hostel could be a jewel. Instead, it's not managed properly. Off-season it is overstaffed by people who watch tv or internet films all day. Hostel remains empty or has 2-4 guests. The dorm floor smelly, washrooms terrible foul smell, showers miniscule, etc. Dorms are crammed, humid, no lockers, and with the surf a few metres away, too noisy. No kitchen, no microwave, and some staff too impolite. To be avoided. It should have been closed long ago, but it's Govt owned by Movijovem .

Basic and a bit outdated, this is nonetheless a comfy and delightful hostel, with helpful staff, stunning balcony views down the long coast and beach access right outside the front door. Very filling European breakfast of coffee, bread, jam, cheese, ham, and cereal included, and excellent WiFi coverage throughout the building. No lockers, but who needs them in a place like Praia da Areia Branca.

Lovely little spot on the beach. Perfect for a chill out and soooo close to some cool little bars and of course the ocean.
