Exceptional host made it a good choice

The property is in a good location, but the cleanliness and maintenance need improvement. The bedsheets and pillows had an unpleasant odor, and the bathroom hook for hanging clothes was broken. The fan above the bed was covered in dust. When I mentioned these issues to the host, he said another guest had broken the hook — but that’s not a reason to leave it unrepaired. Clean place in a quieter part of Kolkata. Akash is a super chill host and the crowd at the hostel is really social. Would recommend!

I had a really brilliant stay here - came from a slightly dodgy hotel where I didn’t feel safe to this hostel and immediately felt so safe (especially as a solo female traveller). Sky was so welcoming and the vibe of the hostel was so chill. It’s slightly far out but DEFINITELY worth it and great for meeting other travellers. It was clean too and Sky was very responsive to any query or request. I can’t recommend enough! I will definitely be staying here again.

Excellent hostel, Sky le gère avec passion et fait tout son possible pour que ses hôtes passent un bon moment sur place avec plein de recommandations. La chambre que nous avons prise était grande, confortable et propre. Il y a une terrasse agréable sur laquelle se poser en journée. Le logement est un peu loin du centre mais les transports en commun et tuktuks permettent d'y accéder facilement.

This is the best hostel, you can find in Kolkata. Sky is probably the most welcoming person in all of India, and a really interesting person if you want to learn more about the society of the country. The hostel is clean and the neighbourhood is super chill, and the terrace is a plus.

Staying here was a great experience. Sky is a really genuine guy and loves to help travellers and guide them to authentic Bengali culture. He embodies the true spirit of yoga. The location is peaceful and has a communal area for connecting with other travellers. Positive vibes all around. I highly recommend you visit.

We had a beautiful stay, Akash has been an amazing host ! He took us around to make us discover the city, and was so helpful !! The accomodation is standard but got all you need. The real plus is the vibe that akash bring, sharing stories and knowledge whenever needed. We spend our time there sharing with the people that were also passing by, really good time ! Thank you Akash !

Ran by the most amazing family, who came and found me after my uber took me to a wrong address. Breakfast in the morning was so good and the overall hospitality of everyone was outstanding! Thank you

The best hostel EVER. The family who runs this hostel are so kind and welcoming. Not to mention the food - we are sad that we will not be tasting this again. It was amazing. It was clean with warm water. The location was so peaceful and away from the chaos of central Kolkata. We felt safe. Ana and her boyfriend were quick to help on the occasion that my friend got dropped off at the wrong location. I would recommend this to anyone, in a heart beat. Please stay here!

Very good option to stay in Calcutta. Warm atmosphere, clean and chill. Warmly welcomed by Sky, who is geniously happy to help with tips around Calcutta or your trip in India - even accompany you around town as a local! Hardly recommend.

Overall, a hostel run by a super friendly man Akash or Sky, he is like your old friend. He speaks perfect English. He will take you out on his own time, give you a proper local experience, make you see the culture. He treats you like a friend, not a tourist, and it is was a great exposure to Bengali culture too. Lots to learn from staying here and from Akash. I was here for Durgapuja and it was an experience of a lifetime. Overall would highly recommend.

Staff was friendly, understanding and helpful. Sky is a great help. Also ask about learning the tabla. He can help out with that. Do not forget about the whimsical Priyanka.... great place go there if you are in Kolkata.
