The best hostel in India I've ever been to. Highly recommend.

Actually love this place. I’ve been here for 2 weeks now after moving from another hostel that was not great. Vibes are good, Sourav is a legend and the location is ideal - a little bit out of the hectic streets full of traffic but still with lots of great places to eat and see around. Will stay here next time for sure.

The staff were terrible. I had booked a twin room en-suite but on arrival I was directed to a dorm room. I showed them the booking and they denied having the room I had booked! Eventually another member of staff reluctantly came to reception and told me the room was not ready yet and I would have to wait. I really considered finding somewhere else but was aware there were not many other hostels in the area. After a short period the room was ready. It was not en-suite and the bathroom seemed to b...

Note that No hair dryer, no security for the hostel and each room, not enough blankets, not enough hot water, no laundry service Everyone is speaking loudly and using phones in the room, thus remember your earplugs and eye cover. But it’s cheap, and it’s India. International travellers should be aware of it and get used to it.

Kolkata isn’t really a solo backpacker destination so the atmosphere suffers for this. That being said the staff do not encourage any interaction between guests (when the are there) and the common area is small. The rooms are fine but the beds are very close together meaning you literally have feet in your face. The location is very good tho next to park street and a metro station which is well connected

After this stay we knew hostels our not everywhere in India really a thing. The persons who worked in the hostel are not very helpfull and motivated. We booked a room with private bathroom but when we arrived we had to wait because someone else was still taking a shower in ‘our’ bathroom. They asked if we could let the door open so other people could take a shower there as well?? Very strange. Besides that the hostel is very hard to find an I didn’t feel safe unfortunately
