Ritz backpackers is a good spot to stay if you’re looking to save some cash on accommodation. The value for cost is in line with Melbournes current economy. Much more a partner hub than a nomadic traveller centre. The people I met were great but the building was very much the necessities and not much more.
Fue mi segundo hostal en St Kilda y mi favorito. Lindo para socializar, gente muy amigable. Los domingos hay pancake free. Linda vista al parque. Lo que más me gustó es que tiene cortinas en las camas. Excelente calidad - precio.
Felt like home, great people, perfect location.
The location and facilities of the hostel were actually great. If you’re solo travelling I would not recommend it tho since there were mostly long time travellers who did not make me feel welcome at all. Trying to start up conversations but this was not reciprocated at all. Just felt so out of place so in that sense, do not recommend.
Location was perfect as I was attending the F1 race at Albert Park, yet otherwise super noisy (there's a pub downstairs so don't expect to sleep before 3am on weekends). Relatively clean but pretty sure there were bed bugs, as I left with weird bites. Facilities ok, personel was nice and helpful, Sunday pancake welcome. It was fir for purposes but I wouldn't stay again.
Very good, however one bathroom per gender is quite a little, the bathrooms didn’t have a washing sink or mirror as there were only in one of the shower rooms. Elsewhere you had to go in the shared downstairs. Otherwise pretty good and clean!
A nice hostel! We even got our own bedroom even though we booked a shared room! The bathroom and shower facilities were not the best, there is no sinks in the bathroom, only in side the shower room, which means that if you’re going to the toilet, and someone is in the shower already, you wont be able to properly wash your hands. There was hand sanitizer outside the toilet, but I would really like being able to properly wash my hands…
Really good location in St.Kilda about 10 mins from the beach - had a female dorm which was absolutely huge, it was basically split into 2 rooms so there was tonnes of space! Also had a private bathroom which was good. I did find it odd that the door could be opened with no locks so anyone else in the hostel could come in…thankfully there was good bag storage under the bed just bring a lock. Seemed to be many long term people grouped up so noone really speaks to you :(
very nice
I would recommend this hostel to anyone! Great location, super friendly and helpful staff, amazing facilities and amazing for first time backpackers.
Felt like I was in a halfway house, weird vibes here but I managed to meet some good people here
I enjoyed my stay here for the most part! The room was ‘cleaned’ daily (not very well though, mostly just dragged a hoover over the floor. The reception closes early on some days which could be a bit annoying. Kitchen was very good very nice. The common room was good but right in the middle of the hostel and everyone looks at you as you walk past to go pee in the half clean small toilets. Made some great friends and very spacious room with under bed cage and lockers! Comfy bed, fan and outle...
So many long term residents, although friendly it felt hard to make friends whilst on a short trip. Facilities were okay but kitchen closed and no alternative area to fill up water bottles when it was. Smoking area was in a courtyard in the middle of the property so it would waft through the windows into the corridors. The kitchen was also very full and virtually no room in fridges and cubby holes.
Super nice awesome locations cool people
Lovely hostel really clean bedrooms and bathrooms, big clean kitchen with lots of space to cook, and really good location from st kildas beach/esplanade. Would stay here again
I loved this hostel. Stayed 9 nights and it felt like a little family by the end. A lot of people do stay in this hostel long term. The facilities are great. Massive kitchen and the beds with curtains and a fan is a great touch. Location is great with the tram right outside the property and St Kilda beach a 20 min walk away where u can see the nicest sunsets
I had an amazing stay!! Great location and really super clean hostel. I will definitely come back if I‘m in Melbourne again :)
Very friendly staff. Location was great. 5 min walk from beach and 10 min tram to the city. Showers had their own room, were excellent and cleaned regularly. Beds had good curtains and fan, light and power socket. Kitchen was a bit cramped and limited storage. Common area didnt have a brilliant atmosphere but was friendly enough.
Really liked the location, close to everything you could need. No elevator though so be prepared to lug all your stuff up 3 flights of stairs.
I really enjoyed my stay here. The location is outside of CBD, but St. Kilda is a great spot for pubs, the beach, and the tram to get downtown is literally right out front. The staff were friendly and helpful, and cleaned the common areas and rooms frequently. It’s an old building, but I think it adds to the charm! The beds were also super comfortable. Overall great place to meet others.
