Very cool hostel in an 100 year old building. The cafe downstairs has really good coffee & curry. The staff are all super friendly. Common area closes at 10pm but you can go down to the cafe after hours if you want a public space too.
Cute, cozy hostel, lovely staff, very clean. I personally didn’t find it that social, it was much smaller than I realised so I guess may be why. But would still recommend staying if you are happy with your own company!
a lovely stay in a gorgeous building, i loved how much of the original features were retained. staff were lovely and there’s a great common room area. would stay again :)
My favorite hostel for our Japan trip - very homey and accommodating in a cool historic building. I’d stay here again!
I stayed at this guesthouse, because my Korean friend lived there for a year. And I have to admit, it's a really beautiful guesthouse. The staff were so friendly, and everyone was talkative. There was a great vibe around everyone. I actually wanted to extend my stay, but every room was booked. It's close to Fukushima station (easy train access). Btw, the curry was delicious! So if you're going to Osaka, this is definitely the house you want to stay in. I'll definitely come back 本当ありが...
Lovely friendly atmosphere, with a sweet communal kitchen area for guests to feel at home. The staff were extremely kind, and although we didn’t have time to try it all the other guests raved about their delicious curry!! Thank you so much for our stay :)
Suuuuch lovely staff, and we had such a cute private room! Although people are saying the location isn’t the best I would disagree, I know my way round osaka a bit and it’s actually very close (in a metropolitan city kind of way) to my favourite neighbourhoods in osaka. So definitely a recommended hostel :) thousand times better than staying in Namba!!
I would definitely stay here again.
I have been backpacking for about 7 years probably the dirtiest place I've ever experienced. First floor reeks curry 24/7 and the beds are really dusty and dirty. Also 0 atmosphere, wouldn't recommend.
I had a great time here. The staff was friendly and offered many suggestions on where to go and what to do in Osaka. Public transit is easily accessible from the hostel, and I found many gems in this part of the city. I would be happy to stay here again.
I stayed in 2 hostels during my time in Osaka and U-En was hands down the best one by far! The staff are so lovely and the hostel is absolutely so cosy and clean! I met some great people here as well. The common area has a fantastic atmosphere. I booked a private room which might have helped but I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Loved this hostel! Beds were comfy, everything was clean, very homey atmosphere. The room had a table in the centre that my roommates and i connected and talked around for hours. It was great to compare travel stories and cultures between a canadian, a british person, and a chinese person. The staff were lovely too. I highly recommend trying the curry, it was delicious!!! There is a common area with a n64 and Ocarina of Time to play. Good water pressure in the bathrooms too. I also appreciated t...
I was very happy with this place. The staff were very friendly and the place has a nice atmosphere. The cafe/restaurant they have is very good: the curry is excellent. The location is also centrally located in Osaka. The room are basic but that is to be expected for a hostel.
Great time, I loved how the dorm beds had walls between each of them. Amenities were perfect and everything you needed from a Hostel. Would 100% recommend to anyone going to Osaka due to the walkability and if you want to stay out late in Dotonbori (I would recommend the walk home if you’re drunk to save your morning lol)
U-en was a nice enough stay for 2 days. As an old converted building, the vibe was nice, but the facilities were a bit lacking. The water pressure varied depending on how many taps were on simultaneously, and the shower temperature was all over the place, hot then cold, with no ability to control it. Each dorm had a lock, but since it was not an auto lock, no one ever bothered locking it. The restaurant attached to the hostel was excellent, though it did lead to some smells in the hostel area.
One of my absolute favorite stays in over 4 weeks of Japan. The Café downstairs is so lovely. I really recommend the Cheesecake and Lassi/Matcha. I still dream about them and will rebook, if I come to Osaka again! The staff was very lovely, I loved the old Japanese house and really was nothing bad to say. Thank you very much!☺️🐝
Sehr sauber, gemütlich, schön eingerichtet. Personal super freundlich! Betten ultra bequem und geräumig! Einzig die Durchlüftung im Mehrbettzimmer war fatal.
Super convenient location. Affordable for families. Clean.
Good hostel, I recommend
We stayed in the tamati mat room on the floor, and the mattresses are very thin, so if you aren't used to this it will be an uncomfortable sleep! Large kitchen and coin locker washing machine and dryer (200Y each though needed to dry clothes twice so 600Y total). Close to the main train stations which is very useful, and they have a cafe though we don't go there. Lots of toilets and showers, lots of backpackers. Nice stay.
