One of a kind hostel! Such an awesome and unique stay. I highly recommend booking a session in the tatami workshop next door run by the owners father, not only do you create your own mini mat but we worked together on a full size mat for a client! Likely the only place in Japan you can do this 🙇♂️ The owner is also a really lovely guy, we spent a long time chatting, adventured to meet friends and he helped drive me to post office before my flight home! So I experienced incredible ho...
Such a good place to stay if you want avoid the crowds of Osaka. Not too much to do in the area, but easy to take the train other places. The staff is super sweet and welcoming. Always helping if you have any questions or other problems. Would definitely stay again.
My stay at Guesthouse Fujitatami was the highlight of my trip - if you prefer an accomodation that is away from the bustle of the city but still rich in experiences like meeting locals and enjoying delicious restaurants, I highly recommend a stay with Issay and Kana + breakfast included. **Pro-tip: Take advantage of the 2hr tatami workshop they offer! For an additional fee, you get your own personalized tatami souvenir to take home. It is a priceless experience, and one I will always remember.
This is a special place. Not a typical hostel stay at all. A great space to slow down and breathe. There is good food in the area and you can bike to a nice park around a lake. Kana’s donuts and coffee are perfect. I hope I can come back someday. The sleeping space is comfortable and clean. I took advantage of the tatami workshop and it was cool to learn more and have a self-made souvenir to take home. Thanks Hiro and Issay.
Ha sido mi primera estancia en japon y no podia pedir mas, recomendable 100%.
exactly what it is. its a bit out of the way but nice to chill and relax. hosts were very welcoming :)
Location may be out of the city center and far from most places but the atmosphere and friendliness of the owners is exceptional. They were extremely kind and accommodating. The place itself is quite small but has all the provisions necessary for any traveler. Overall, I felt satisfied and greatly enjoyed my stay.
Very lovely place and an even more lovely owner. One of my favorite hostels so far!
Very friendly staff, felt like home. Would recommend to any travelers interested in a guest house experience in Japan.
I really enjoyed my time at Fujitatami, it felt very different from the usual hostel experience and atmosphere and was something more relaxed and also very authentic. Everyone was extremely kind and friendly whilst I was staying, offering recommendations of places to go and things to do in the day such as the tatami workshop which I greatly enjoyed. The house was very clean and had everything that I needed. Thank you so much for the hospitality 😊
10/10 - would recommend
Cleanest hostel I've been in. Fantastic people, a bit out of the city but worth the commute.
Issei and Kana will look after you like family, it’s an authentic Japanese guesthouse experience with delicious rice flour gluten-free donuts for breakfast and loads of beautiful artwork and guitars to play. Really calm peaceful vibe. Takes about 50mins to get to Namba by train then you’re in the thick of it in Osaka. I was even picked up and dropped off at the train station on arrival and departure. Great people, can’t recommend enough.
I've never felt so welcomed in all my life. I'm going to miss this place, and the donuts. 11/10
Issay (host) was kind to pick me up from the station after a late flight. Easy limousine bus to and from KIX. Cute tatami rooms were comfy and relaxed. Showers were spotless. Bar and Cafe on-site. Convenience store and 24 hour supermarket closeby. It was the only accommodation in the area I was visiting, but turned out super happy to be able to stay. Still easily able to head to Osaka for a day trip. Thanks!!
As a first time traveller Issai was amazing! really welcoming and so much fun to talk to. Great social place if you want to meet people and can't wait to come back!
Had an amazing stay! Located just outside of Osaka you get to experience something a bit different from staying in the centre. Everyone who works there is lovely and so welcoming. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet stay. Will definitely be going back!
Issay and Kana are amazing hosts, from the delicious donuts to the suggestions for just about anything you might want to do. And the guesthouse just seems to bring everyone together! The tatami-making workshop is also a great activity to do, especially if there's some rain on the forecast. The only thing to keep in mind is that the trip to Osaka and back adds up quite a bit, and the train lines to go back stop a bit earlier. But it's a trade worth doing for staying at Fujitatami.
Amazing hostel that feels more like staying at a friends house 🥰 We loved staying here because: - the traditional house is gorgeous, cozy and clean - rooms accommodate small number of people and have enough privacy - hosts are sooo kind, funny and always there to help (really, thank you so much for everything) - the breakfast is the best ever!!! And kitchen has everything you need and more if you want to cook You cannot miss with this place!!
