Nice stay
Overall a nice hostel with a good location and well-equiped kitchen. The showers were also really nice! It felt like 80% of the people there were volunteers tho and most of them spoke Portuguese, so it was a bit hard to connect imo. The outside chill area was also mostly used by the volunteers. You also have to pay if you want to leave your backpack at the hostel after check-out or if you want to use the hostel facilities, which I found a bit odd.
One of the best hostels I've stayed in. Great location near the bus and many beaches, cool layout. The kitchen was well equipped and the whole place was super clean. I feel like I saw the staff cleaning around the clock. Everyone working there was really friendly and invited me out to Samba. The hostel bar is great and on Saturday had a local DJ. The rooms had AC and the beds were sturdy and comfy.
Me and my friend originally booked the tents, when it’s super hot I would recommend staying in the dorms as there is air conditioning and the tents were just too hot. Apart from that everything was amazing, the staff are super nice Sara checked us and was super helpful.
I have been travelling for a few years now, and I must say Clandestino is one of the nicest hostels I have been to. It is super clean and tidy but at the same time a very friendly atmosphere which makes it easy to get to know people. It has also spaces were it is handy to work from, and the place is always spotless clean, the cleanest hostel I have been at. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and it was lovely to hang out with them. Defo recommend to stay here.
Lovely Hostel with everything that you need. It got cleaned every day. The Personal was really sweet and over the top helpfull (called a taxi for me once because I forgot to bring cash for the bus and couldn't call one myself) and always enjoyed talking with them. The location is also very good, right by the center and the bus station, so that you can get to the beaches easily. A supermarket is also nearby. All in all I really enjoyed my stay, thanks for everything! :)
Fantastic time at clandestino, the only thing was the demographic wasn’t hugely suited to younger travelers from europe. The facilities are fantastic and staff were super friendly, also literally located right in the centre of the centro historico, which is gorgeous .
Such a unique spot. The tent wasn’t the most comfortable, but it really didn’t matter you didn’t want to be in there just to sleep. The place has such a special vibe, everyone is so communal and chatty, fun to party and hang around with everyone. Shoutout to the volunteers some of the best we have met travelling so good at their jobs and friendly.
If you plan to stay at hosting to not stay alone. Definitely this is the. Ad choice. So, it’s a hostel where make new friends is hard, atmosphere is low. People with pre existing groups, not invite new people to join or share experiences. So, take with you someone (friend, boy/girl friend) or you’ll risk to stay alone.
Probably a good place if you want to get drunk with other random travelers, especially in weekends . I think it’s better value for money than the overhyped other hostel in this town . And a bit more calm , but : The code lock on a dorm is the most stupid thing I have ever seen , especially as it gives an alarm after 3 wrong attempts, waking up the whole dormitory when someone tries to enter drunk at night and forgets the code . Switch of this alarm on the lock or remove them completely
The hostel is in a great location on the island. We stayed in one of the teepee tents and I would say they are very small if you have any bags there really isn’t any room. Other guests at the hostel were all very friendly. The staff were nice but not the most hospitable.
Overall it was a good stay. Perfect location, nice common areas and is very safe. Bear in mind,iIt has mostly a Portuguese speaking crowd (which almost all of it is constituted by the volunteers). Obviously it is perfectly fine but if you are looking for a more international crowd, this might not be the place for you.
Excellent, I felt very comfortable here and I wish I stayed longer.
I think is a bit overrated they have a very nice set up with different and alternative kind of accommodation such as vans and sailing boat but dorms were not so comfy mattress cover wasted and still you have to make your bed for the price..it’s a party hostel they offer like parties and events but they didn’t know where to rent a bike with gears to go around. If you take the bus and go a bit farther and ask the local there is a place like 5-10min by bus for 25 reales/hour or 120 day.
I had a good time here. The place had a good location, it was clean and the staff was friendly. Not the best place to socialize, but I guess that depends on the people as well. All together it was a good experience.
War mega chillig da
Good hostel, recommended
Muy agradable el ambiente. El personal me atendio estupendo.
La experiencia increíble, especialmente por los voluntarios que están allí. Se crea un ambiente muy familiar super bonito, perfecto para quien quiera conocer a gente mientras viajar.
The staff are amazing, close to restaurants and bus, they have tours too. But on Friday and Saturday their bar is open and they play music until midnight and all rooms are on top of the bar so there is no way to sleep before midnight
