YHA Ilam Hall

Great spot for hiking in the Peak District. The staff are very friendly and it feels secure and family oriented. The building is a little tired and some facilities were out of order (eg some showers) which may have been annoying if it were busier. The kitchen is spacious but fully self catered so just bring everything you want to cook with. Rooms are quiet and secure. Lots of families stay here- it’s not for partying (which we didn’t mind at all).All in all, a great spot that I would recomme...

Plaster falling off the walls,horrid shower leaks leaving the whole toilet wet . Not nice to walk thru cold puddle / stream in middle night. No soap by sink. Sanitizer offer. Games for public based right out side window. Not peaceful at all. Grateful for summer fun Not great for passing,travelling need rest.

I asked if you did packed lunches. I assume you meant the cafes in Ashbourne. My very maximum walking at the moment is 4 miles. Otherwise very satisfied.

Perfect location for Peak District get away! Reasonably priced too with great scenery. Beds a little hard but not enough for it to disrupt the stay! Lovely spot.

A really relaxing, well maintained place with delicious food, lovely staff, comfy clean beds, good facilities and pretty beautiful surroundings: the Dovedale hills are great for your mind just to look at. One thing I'd mention is that if you're after somewhere with an energetic, busy vibe, Ilam Hall won't be it: it's quiet enough Spring to Summer and pretty silent winter-time ish, but that's more on me heading there as a solo traveller, probably. More of a place to recharge post exercise.

property is amazing and staff are all wonderful. Only cristism would be the women's dorm was extremely hot at night & could do with more showers/toilets near the dorms. Overall, an amazing stay, thank you 😊

Superb youth hostel complimented by the most stunning surrounding countryside. We only stayed for 1 night but would definitely like to go for longer to be able to explore the area more.
