One of the staff here is friends with the people down the street who have a CHAINED elephant right on the side of the road. They keep this elephant here, giving only giving it food or water sparingly. The fact the staff are friends with this guy tells me all I need to know about their values and morals - that is why I will not stay with them again.
Best hostel in Sri Lanka!!! The breakfast served was fresh and delicious and probably the best food I have had in Sri Lanka so far. The family who runs this place is so kind and help with planning your stay in Dambulla and Sri Lanka (the owner was so kind to drive me and two other girls to a nearby temple to see the sunset, which was one of the best experiences I have had so far). The cave temple is very close by too. The room is big and each bed has a mosquito net. The common area is very nice.
We stayed at the hostel for two nights, and it was the best hostel of our trip to Sri Lanka. The bathroom was brand new and completely clean. The room and adjoining lounge areas are lovingly decorated and really beautiful! The host family is really friendly and helped us with all our excursions and gave us tips! If we come back, we'll definitely stay there again!
I stayed in this famoly run hostel for 2 nights and I had an amazing time! The hostel is surrounded by nature and the room and bathroom are very recently renovated. Shan and his family are the kindest and the sweetest. He even drove me to Siginya for the sunrise and organized a trip to some local spots. Would definelty recommend it!
I came for one night and stayed a whole week – that says it all! The family running this hostel is incredibly kind, generous and always ready to help. The owner even drove me to Sigiriya and picked me up. The place is very clean and spacious, the upstairs patio is perfect for relaxing or yoga, and the included breakfast is amazing. Truly felt like home!
CAUTION: I showed up with a reservation and this place appeared to be totally closed. Felt eerie as I came in around 10p and all lights at the hostel/home were off. I knocked on the door and called the listed number, both of which went unanswered. I could hear a phone ringing inside when I placed my calls, but again, no response. I felt stranded with nowhere to go. Owner, you have a responsibility to us to accurately represent your availability. Please refund my deposit.
The hostel has just been renovated. The facilities are thus very nice. The owner is also very kind. When I asked about dinner they offered to make me some dishes. But the owner was going out for dinner and I was allowed to join. The hostel is close by to the cave temple.
Endroit idéal pour se reposer et passer du bon temps avec cette merveilleuse famille. On se sent comme à la maison
Host and family: - super sweet - tea served as a welcome Room: - best and cleanest toilet and shower I’ve seen in Sri Lanka so far - each bed has its own mosquito net - mattresses are really comfy Location: - 15 min walk to temple - 20 min walk to bus station I forgot my lunchbox and the host couriered it to the hostel I stayed next. Definitely stay there, he’s getting out of his way to help you and to make sure you’re having a great stay.
Very sweet family! We got dinner and breakfast. They just renovated so everything is new! Had a good time
L'ostello è pulito e le camere al piano di sopra sono appena state rinnovate e insieme al bagno sono fantastiche. La famiglia che lo gestisce è gentilissima e disponibilissima ed è veramente carina. Sono state due belle notti immerse nella natura!
We arrived to find that the hostel was closed, but the lovely family welcomed us to stay in a separate room in their home. They were incredibly kind and friendly. They offered us a cup of tea and they spoke really good English which made communication easy. The grandfather even showed us the dorms of the hostel which are under construction and they looked really nice! The location was good as we could easily walk to the temples. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we felt very welcome.
