Spectacular location and a gorgeous balcony overlooking the creek. The bathrooms were very nice and clean. The beds could have been more comfortable. They didn't give us a flat sheet to sleep with. Although it was hot, it's nice to cover yourself when you sleep. Our main issue was with the restaurant. There were only a couple of vegetarian options on the menu and of these 2 were not available. When we asked to substitute the sausages with something veggie, they said it was not possible.
its under new management so the quality has improved. i stayed in the dorm with one other girl and it was clean and comfortable. there was a power cut for first night with surges which mewnt fans were on and off all night causing noisy chaos . theres no kitchen . the breakfast staff are so useless - poor service with no breakfast stock in. it was basically just me and one girl so feels very isolating. the reception staff are great. quite far from old town
3 Wonderful Weeks at Tulia Backpackers! Staying at Tulia may cause UNEXPECTED HAPPINESS, EXTENDED STAYS (I came for a few nights and stayed three weeks… ), EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENT to the staff, and strong friendship with the pub cat Princess. The only problem with Tulia Backpackers is that it makes it very hard to leave. I came as a guest, stayed like family, and left as someone who forgot her heart there. Bless you Harriet, Juliana, Grace, Aisha, Zalina, Jackson, Tom, Godfrey, Abdul and Anuu.
It is a great place centrally located, everything on walking distance. Nice bar and swimming pool. Staff is willing to help. Next time in Monbasa and I will definitely stay there again.
No generator, cause when there is a power cut the fans don't work and no coffee to be served or laundry to make. Mosquito net is broken so many bites Stuff made me scammed for a tour that was overpriced without the Fort Jesus included 300 shillings for a bottle of water
Nice hostel to stay near Nyali. Location is just perfect. Friendly staff, cheerful atmosphere and facilities are available as you ask.
Average-quality hostel offering services that match the price. Indeed, there is no hot water in the shower and only one bathroom for a 10-bed dorm (with no additional shared bathrooms elsewhere in the hostel). The breakfast, is very good and affordable, although it was not included in the price as mentioned at the time of booking. The reception staff were also very kind. The hostel is ideally located, close to the city center, the beaches, and shops.
The vibes in here are okay, could be a bit cleaner
TuliaHouse was a good base in Mombasa. I got in early from the overnight train, and they very kindly let me check in at an ungodly hour. The 10 bed dorm was comfortable, although the bathroom could've benefited from more attention. There is a good selection for breakfast, and the cafe/bar is nice in general. Internet was good too. Would recommend.
The property was lovely with amazing food. Staff was really nice and the location was walking distance from the beach. The hostel was a little far from Mombasa but a tuktuk into Old Town wasn't too expensive.
Beware...beach closes at 5.30 PM...get off the beach then and go home or you'll get a cultural experience you don't want. I hope this hostel will warn future backpackers with a big sign about this for the future.
Amazing stuff best reception ever not very clean though
This place is really nice, and honestly the go-to hostel if you’re planning on visiting Mombasa/day-tripping to Diani Beach. There’s a swimming pool, outdoor bar that also serves food, and a billiards table too. I enjoyed playing pool with Tina who works the bar. I wish there were more people at the hostel while I was there, but I went during the off-season so that’s my fault haha
The room was good and it had a balcony. the stuff was friendly. breakfast was good. the beach is really close!! like 5mins walk. the toilets do not always flush and the mosquito nets dont close completely.
A good place to stay when you’re in Mombasa. Be aware you’re pretty far from the old town. Not the cleanest place but the staff and nice and the food is decent.
Ottima location nella old town e personale disponibile. Ci torneremo.
I stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom, basic room but not very clean. The floors weren't very clean and the sheets had stains. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I think the social area during peak season would be great but it wasn't very busy when I got there.
Close to the beach, free breakfast is really yummy, on site massage therapist is bomb. However, my bed was not made when I arrived so had to wait for them to do that, and the advertised AC and free towel are only for people who have private rooms. I also got eaten alive by the mosquitoes despite the mosquito nets. The girl working the bar seems like she really doesn’t want to be there
