Even though the area may be run down looking it’s still a good starting point. What’s wrong with this place it’s in need of lots of maintenance. Doors that don’t close. Several had actual claw marks from breaking in.

The pod style beds were comfortable and clean, staff were very nice, and they had family style dinners in the evenings! I would say the location was a bit far from city centre and it felt a little unsafe walking back at night. Overall building cleanliness could also use improvement.

Great place in a great location!

Everything was perfect! The bathroom and the room were clean, the personal was helpful and friendly and the nest was very cosy. I would recomment this place.

Great place with events to promote conversations with other people here. I arrived on Thursday and it happened to be pasta night and immediately met a lot of people living here. Location wise it’s good for public transport but it is in a sketchy area, my roommate actually almost got robbed and had to fight off the robber one night. But if you just be mindful or travel in groups, it’s fine.

The walls were super thin, you could hear and smell everything. Not the cleanest and also no social vibe whatsoever sadly. It did the job but I wouldn't come back.

This is a great hostel! All of the staff was super nice and welcoming and it is nice that they have dinner in the lobby each night to meet new people. The room is nice and I liked that you can close the door on your bed for added privacy. Would stay here again!

Very lovely place, secure pod-style beds, great staff and a simple dinner for free or cheap every night.

Sono stato al Free Hostels Roma e la mia esperienza è stata molto positiva. Un ringraziamento speciale va a Paolo alla reception, che è stato estremamente professionale, gentile e disponibile. Fin dal mio arrivo mi ha accolto con il sorriso e mi ha aiutato con tutte le informazioni di cui avevo bisogno per il soggiorno e per visitare Roma.

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. A perfect place to base yourself in Rome. From the friendly owner to the friendly receptionists to the friendly cleaners, from the moment I arrived I felt at home. Can't wait to go back. This will be the only hostel I will stay at when I'm in Rome. The location is great, just a few minutes from Termini, the facilities are up to date and clean, and the atmosphere is open and lovely. Don't forget to check out their free dinners most nights of the week!

El hostel estuvo OK. El baño olía un poco mal pero supongo que debe ser por la ciudad en si. Tuvimos un problema con el secador de pelo que no funcionaba bien y lo resolvieron al día siguiente. El staff es muy amigable y predispuestos a ayudar. Para desayuno tienen una maquina de café la cual cobra 1.50, lo mismo para jugo de naranja y también ofrecen unos bizcochos. This place is totally fine. Staff is super friendly and the location is hard to beat. I personally would never think twice about the safety of this location. Trust me, you’re safe. The common area is a little suspect. It’s in a basement, and when you walk in it has a permanent dank smell mixed with leftover cooked food. It’s intense. 地铁出行是方便的，步行到主要市区稍稍有些远。位于火车站南边，晚上街道上人有点杂，感觉不是很安全。床位有挡板和门锁好评，但置物柜前的空间很拥挤，并且洗漱台只有一个，高峰期有点紧张。员工大都态度良好，服务周到，但前台的行李寄存就是放在一边的台阶上，也没有对应号码牌，略随意，有安全风险。

This really is a great spot. I could have taken more advantage of the social aspect, but I was so frazzled by Rome. The location is a bit meh, but it's not too far from Termini, which is nice. But Security is ON POINT.

Located in the heart of Rome's Skid Row. Definitely not safe at night. Staff was a bit "meh." It was hard to get in and out of the bunks. Comfortable enough bed. I'd look elsewhere.

Great hostel ,brought my 2 boys with me and they liked it aswell for there first time in a hostel. Didn't get the bed I booked but a more than suitable alternative was provided so all was well would use again.

the nest beds were incredible and you could lock stuff away in beds and lockers. shower handle was broken making it hard to use. shower also had black mould everywhere. we also witnessed instances of racism between other guests, alongside staff who did nothing to de escalate the situation. the room (12 bed mixed dorm) was also incredibly cramped. impossible to pack bag, or even stand in the room without being in someone’s way.
