This hostel has lovely views and a great breakfast. Other than that I do not recommend staying the sleeping arrangements were horrible. Bunks right beside each other. The staff was unhelpful for multiple situations. If you are travelling in a group or with one other person make sure to let the hostel know ahead of time or they will not accommodate your sleeping arrangements with your groups/ partner. The lockers were hard to use and there was no lock or keys for any of the doors.
Great place with a great view and great people.
Merveilleux endroit pour les jeunes. Dynamique, hablan español.
Amazing experience, my favourite hostel ever. The location is truly unbeatable (yes, the view is even better than the photos). Super easy to meet other travellers to hike and explore with. The breakfast is great, the staff are great. I'd recommend bringing groceries and cooking for yourself because food at the bar is very pricey, although I was told that it was tasty! The bedrooms are very cosy so you have to be prepared to sleep next to strangers, but bunking with everyone was good vibes!
I really wanted to love it here. The location, views, staff, and common spaces are top notch. However, the bed setup was jarring to me, especially for the most expensive hostel I stayed in during my time in Switzerland. The mixed room has all of the bunk beds pushed together- almost to form one big bed- so you are sleeping directly next to and inches away from other guests. There were probably 20 people in the room which would’ve been fine if the setup offered a tiny bit more privacy.
great social vibe and serene location in the quiet mountain village of gimmelwald, steps away from the cablecar. it's about 30 min to lauterbrunnen by transport. lots of hiking and mountain views in the area. good social bar and common room, kitchen food was solid too. Try the pizza! the sleeping situation was a bit unique as the beds are touching but everyone was respectful. I would recommend this hostel to any solo traveler in Switzerland!
Loved my time here! Most cozy place I've ever stayed. I even liked the school camp vibe of the shared dorms.
Love it. Very nice and quite area. Hostel is very cozy but honestly this is the most weirdest bed arrangement i have ever seen. Theres no space between beds its more like a double bed as bunker and you share that with other people. Or the other beds are mostly capsule shaped so not good for claustrophobic. Vibe is mostly white people trying to keep it to their own kind which is not hostels fault but its the fact.
Absolutely stunning hostel in the most beautiful spot. Everyone was so nice and the breakfast was great. I would definitely come back
Great stay!! Exactly what you’d expect, beautiful location, great breakfast and great staff!
At the end of the day you come here for this hostels prime location. It’s simply unbeatable. The views are breathtaking and there are an endless amount of activities in the area. That being said if you do stay in the mixed dorm, it is quite a struggle. Expensive and you are quite literally cuddled up to a stranger on either side. I stayed four nights and I was strictly in there to sleep. Included breakfast was a lifesaver. I think everyone should stay here at least once.
Staying at this hostel was the best experience I've had so far. I made countless friends and unforgettable memories. The only drawback was the condition of the rooms, but aside from that, everything was fantastic. I highly recommend it just go for it!
The hostel has a great location, but unfortunately also many points of criticism. The rooms are absolutely lousy. Hot, stuffy, only one window and you sleep with 16 people in the room and the next person is 3cm away right next to you. The floor is also so badly laid that every step is loud and wakes everyone up. There are no towels and you have to make the bed yourself. There are far too few toilets. The pizza is a cheek. Black on the bottom, very bad dough and far too expensive!
Absolutely adored my stay here!! If you are a lover of the outdoors, hiking and cozy evenings this is the place for you. Strongly recommend that girls book the female dorm as the beds are packed like sardines and don’t always have a curtain between mattresses. It’s a tight squeeze but everyone is very respectful and kind. Also a shout out to the staff (especially the Brisbane dude), who showed a genuine interest and asked about my day which never happens in generic hostels and meant a lot...
amazing place! people staying there and also the workers were super friendly. So much do see around the area even if the weather isn’t 100%
I wanted to be honest about ratings of indivual aspects of the hostel but honestly nothing there is a deal breaker when it comes to the location. Its truly amazing, deserves all the hype and more, I wish I had stayed for longer, middle earth wishes it was central Switzerland. I stayed in a full 16 bed mixed dorm and it was somehow nice and quiet at night. Lucked out with my roomies fr! My one note, if flys ick you out, avoid summer up a Swiss mountain! You will be sharing everything with them!
My favorite hostel ever! Met so many people as soon as I got there and we hung out the whole time. The beds are close and there isn’t a lot of room in the rooms but that’s the whole vibe! You are in the mountains and it feels like summer camp. I cannot wait to come back!
Really relaxing stay - staff were really lovely and helpful! Bit of a quieter vibe when I was there but met some lovely people. Thank you!
Best trip ever, staff are smart and friendly, renovation has kept the same cozy vibe, but with the additional amenities. I recommend highly!
Best hostel where I have been! I love the views, very lovely staff and the building was so old but full of atmosphere! I had many new good friends over there, and we had so much good time at this hostel. I would not have wanted to leave there, but I'll be back some day!
