A reareally beautiful hostel and a greagreat location with brilliant facilities for everyone
A really nice place to relax and enjoy. The people there are really nice and helpful. I had a few really nice conversations with strangers. It’s perfect to have a little bit of nature and lots of different places to go. And just 50 Min from Kyoto, so you can do day trips there. But also go to different cities around Lake Biwa.
Excellent place to stay. I highly recommend. It’s very clean. Very secure. The staff is amazing and welcoming. The beds are quite cozy and they offer privacy even in dorms, except for noise obviously which is the same for all hostels in the world. Toilets, shower, everything is clean ! They also provide many services and for cheap. Rent a bike for 700 yen, do laundry for 300 and so on… I really enjoyed my stay sincerely. Thank you so much.
Nothing wrong with the hostel as such but it seemed catered more towards families than solo travellers. The location is very rural which may be a positive or a negative depending on what you hope to get out of your stay.
I was in the female dorm and the beds were great I had enough space to put my bag up on the bunk with me and I had a little cabinet and lamp in my bunk area which was a really nice touch. the showers were unfortunately the ones where you have to keep pushing the button to turn them on and the water pressure was way to high but otherwise a nice hostel and the lake is very beautiful
Great hostel. 12 bed dorm was everything you could ask for. Had a group of international volunteers and plenty of activities. Lots of families on Saturday night. As of the writing of this review, this hostel has 5.1/10 on Hostelworld and that is absolutely way too low. If you’re interested in coming to Lake Biwa, stay here
Great staff, super clean! Fishing rod and limited tackle you can borrow if you fish. About a 40 minute commute from the nearest fishing store. Beautiful scenery all around
Great facilities, really friendly staff. Pretty friendly environment for expats in the lounge. Beds were comfortable, a little far walk from train station, but real beautiful location on the lake.
Gave incorrect information on their website page. You cannot get breakfast, lunch and dinner there, only on selected days which would have been good to know. All restaurants shut early so had to hire a bike to get food from the 7/11. The hostel lacks any backpacker vibe and is full of families with kids. The beds are hard and the pillows are basically beanbags. Also, no one locks the door to the dorm so never felt secure. Wouldn’t recommend!
Beautiful spot, great facilities Would love to come back here again
This is really a great hostel! The staff was really friendly and even cooked a dinner for the people who arrived after the supermarket was closed. It is also a beautiful area to visit. The hike up the mountain was great. Really enjoyed my stay!
Clean, spacious, 2 soccer field, staff are awesome and friendly. Eric the cook and his wife the manager is super cool and helpful. Can drive you to the Otsu station. And it’s 2 minutes walk to the beach. Highly recommended
The staff, especially Eric, are terrific. The place is big and spacious. The futon type beds were new to me. The pillows should be replaced. They're like hard beanbags. Not much room for personal belongings like a 48L backpack inside the bed space but manageable. Rent a bike and go for a ride. The area is calm and enjoyable even in early Spring.
