HostelExp, Munroe Island - A Community Experience

Lovely hostel with lovely people! I was there during the off-season, but there was still a great atmosphere. The hostel is right by the backwaters, perfect for swimming or kayaking. The hostel staff (Neeraj and Elizabeth) were amazing - they were super helpful with everything around the area and onwards travel. This is a great hostel to unwind and relax, and enjoy the scenery.

Superb hostel with lovely hosts. The location has a great view of the backwaters and you can actually start your canoe/kayak directly from the hostel which makes logistics very easy. Regarding options for eating out this is likely to require a bicycle but it’s only a 4/5 min ride to the nearest restaurant :)

Absolutely amazing experience! A must visit! Wonderful staff, wonderful accommodations. Stayed in a tent, rented a paddle board to explore the backwaters myself, and borrowed a bike to see the town. Great place to connect with other travelers, big emphasis on community — sharing meals, watching sunsets, playing games under the stars. Very kind and helpful staff, awesome cat too. Goodwin is an amazing hostel owner!

10/10 recommend this stay! The area is so peaceful and relaxing, and the hostel itself is a very calm environment. It has everything you would need during your stay, and you can rent kayaks/ bikes to adventure round. They can also help with canoe or boat experiences. The manager Neeraj is so helpful, always friendly and giving advice for whatever you may need, making the trip perfect! 100% recommend staying here for your time in Munroe, overall amazing experience and I can’t wait to go back ...

Loveliest place and hostel and people!

AMAZING place to spend New year's Eve in Kerala. Monroe island is a fantastic experience for anyone escaping the (expensive) hustle and bustle, but Prem and the team made it even more special! They organised a New Year's barbecue and party, which was magic, and the bike tour around the island was incredible. Overall one of my favourite hostel stays of all time!

Really enjoyed my stay at this community centred hostel. When they say it's a community experience, it really is! From home cooked meals, to meeting the neighbours and town folk, you really feel like your experiencing life like a local. Staff were great and couldn't be more helpful. The location is fantastic, with beautiful views from the hostel. If I'm ever visiting southern India again, I will definitely come back!

Stayed at Hostelexp for 4 days and loved it! The property was amazing, the people were super friendly, and the whole place had a warm, homely vibe. Highly recommend to anyone visiting! The views were spectacular and hosts take care of your every need.

We had a peaceful, relaxing stay at HostelExp. The staff were warm and friendly, making us feel at home right away. The location is fantastic - water right out front for kayaking/canoeing/swimming. The only thing we’d change is price transparency. We weren’t told the cost of meals, activities, etc. until the end (even after asking beforehand). While not a major issue, some prices did take us by surprise. Overall a warm, welcoming stay in an unbeatable setting to enjoy Munroe Island.

if I can, I'll surely visit this place... part of my heart is still there. if you want to see real kerala culture/people, how they work, fish farming, diversity, temples, canals... every bit of kerala in one place. the host was nice, i was solo traveling to have a birthday for myself, and it was worth it...

TROP BONNE AUBERGE !!!! Toute neuve donc pas beaucoup d'avis mais vous pouvez y aller en confiance. J'y suis arrivée dans un moment de mental breakdown en voyage solo dans ce pays de fou furieux (j'adore) et ce séjour m'a vraiment requinquée. Super beau, emplacement magnifique, possibilité de faire du vélo/kayak/padle/bateau... Athif le gérant est hyper sympa et surtout d'une grande aide en cas de besoin (il m'a amenée à la gare à 7h30). Ambiance famille qui m'a poussée à réserver à...

Munroe's Island is a true paradise for nature lovers! 🌱 Tranquility, swimming at sunset, boat rides, wild bird watching (eagles, cormorants, kingfishers, etc.), silence, meditation, inspiration—it's all there! The hostel is located on a peninsula surrounded by water, which makes this place unique, wild, and magical! 🌱🦅🛶 The food is delicious, the neighbors are happy to share their culture with you, and you'll receive a warm welcome from the hostel manager, who is very friendly...

Amazing place Really nice and quite where you can swim, kayak and watch amazing sunsets Staff is so so so so friendly. Amazing food as well. I felt super at home. I extended my stay. I recommend 100%

L'hostel est un petit bout de paradis ! Le personnel est aux petits soins et s'assurent en permanence que tout le monde se sente bien. Ils se rendent facilement disponible pour faire des activités ensemble. L'auberge est très propre et les repas sont délicieux. On peut voir le sunset et se baigner directement. Je suis restée plus longtemps que prévu et j'y retourne aussi avec grand plaisir. Merci encore 🙏

Great new hostel in Munroe island, the location is beautiful and really feels like a home. Prem was an amazing host and arranged bikes, bird watching and a boat ride! He also fed us delicious food, would definitely recommend to stay here :)

🌴he lake, the palm trees, the birds, this hostel is a little paradise. That and the lovely host + food makes this place hard to leave. Its a good place to just hang around. Definitely also go for a boat trip and explore the Island on one of the cycles. I was here when the hostel just opened and understood they have much more plans for development. I'm very curious how this place will grow and will definitely come back another year. Munroe Island is the perfect place for grounding in natur🌜...
