DO NOT STAY HERE!!! This place is infested with BED BUGS, is dirty, dingy, so loud from the traffic outside and the constant noise in the halls. The lockers are too small to put anything in. I just needed somewhere for the night but only made it an hour before finding bed bugs crawling around and promptly leaving to find somewhere else to stay. The rest I could deal with, but I have to draw the line somewhere

The place is disgusting. If your intention is to sleep with bedbugs, this is the ideal place! They don’t even have basic cutlery or cooking utensils, and they don’t clean the rooms either. The reception is a disaster — the worst place to stay.

My friend and I stayed in the 4 bed mixed dorm for 3 nights and have come home with bed beg bites all over our bodies. Overall didn’t think that it was that clean really anywhere. The windows didn’t have any sort of curtains so the room was easily viewable from the street. Property also smaller than what is perceived in photos. Anyway, moral of this review is the bed bugs

Warning! Bed bug hostel. The previous reviews are unfortunately factual . As soon as lights are off, the warmth of your body attracts a swarm of bed bugs. They obviously don’t clean surfaces as they are covered with smashed bugs including the walls. I have tried reaching them with every possible method to give them the opportunity to make this right and zero response. This is intentional negligence and I am legitimately surprised they are in business and can live with still inviting guests.

They had bed bugs, it was dirty, the night shift told us to go back to our bug infested room . There is no possibility to contact the mangement so you won't even get your money back and just stay traumatized from bugs crawling over you in the night .

The location is good. However, the hostel is severely lacking in the kitchen department, and the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Me and my friends noticed some bed bugs as well.

I am extremely disappointed and upset with this place. I found bedbugs and bedbug droppings in the room, along with stains on the sheets that clearly had not been cleaned. The bathroom was disgusting, with a strong smell and toilet paper all over the floor. There is obviously no basic standard of hygiene or care for guests. On top of that, the place felt unsafe. The people around the reception area created a constant sense of discomfort, and I felt genuinely uneasy because of the lascivious looks I was getting. It is not a place where someone can feel relaxed or secure. To make matters worse, the staff asked me to pay through a private link, outside the platform, which is completely inappropriate and not transparent at all. After everything I experienced, the very least they should do is refund my money, because what is advertised is absolutely not what you get. Totally unacceptable. I hope this review helps other travelers avoid the same experience.

I had a terrible and unacceptable experience at this hostel. I saw bed bugs in the room, and there was no staff available at all when the problem occurred. No reception, no help, no emergency contact — nothing. Because of this, I had to leave the hostel late at night and find another place to sleep on my own. Do not book this hostel. BED BUGS, BED BUGS, BED BUGS!!!!!!!! Worst experience ever. I have never seen a dirtier place. Even public toilets are cleaner than this hostel. The staff were very rude. We had booked for three people. When we checked in, there were numerous bed bugs on the bed. The toilets and washrooms were filthy and clearly not cleaned. Nobody was available to clean, so we checked out the same evening and moved to another hostel. We did not use the room and we did not receive a refund. Please

I Actually contacted the hostel for a refund,but have not heard back from them. I checked out after the first night with full of bedbugs bites all over my body. I have stayed in many hostels and this one by far exceeds all of them. Room was dirty had obvious sperm leftover on the wall, Brocken glass, in the shared bathroom water was backed up in the sink with fecal in the sink and on the floor, and like I said it was full of bedbugs

Nunca había estado en un lugar tan repugnante, desde la mala atención y predisposición de la gente que atendía el lugar hasta la suciedad del lugar, había bed bugs (chinches) en las camas, la habitación sucia al nivel de que había colilla de cigarrillos en el piso. Baños vomitados y todos sucios, incluso con la tapa rota en el piso Dormimos una noche solamente y nos quisieron levantar a las 9 de la mañana para “limpiar”, le dijimos que no y se pusieron violentos, una lástima, no vayan porfavor.

The shower was dirty and smelled really bad. Convinced there are bed bugs. Saw atleast three bugs in my bed but didn’t think much of it since it was the middle of the night but now i have itchy red bumps all over me so i know enough.

BED BUGS AND NO REFUND. I got to this hostel and left within 30 minutes after seeing it was infested with bed bugs. This was such a hastle to deal with when traveling as we had to find a new place at 1am and spend half our day in Amsterdam at the laundry mat. They told me to email for a refund but I have heard nothing back from the email. The place was also disgusting - apart from the bed bugs. No working sink water, no toilet paper, dirty toilets, dirty rooms.

Bed bugs all over the place, no refund?! They stopped replying on my emails after I threatened with inspection. However, you might threaten with whatever - since apparently nobody in Amsterdam is responsible for bed bugs, or hotel inspection! Avoid at ALL COSTS!

firstly, this place was absolutely ridden with bed bugs. i’d rather sleep on the sidewalk than here. management did not allow for a refund after basically lying about the current state of the facilities, the pictures makes it look a lot cleaner than it is. put our group in a bad situation because we could not find another place to stay because of the ade festival. do not recommend whatsoever.

Absolutely would never recommend, beds full of visible bedbugs and sanitary facilities left in awful condition (faeces splashed all over the walls, vomit clogging sinks) and it stank of cigarettes and mould. Don't go if you don't want to end up on the streets!

This is the worst hostel I have ever seen. The smell is of old, dirty, and uncared for. The bathrooms are uncomfortable and very unclean. There is a bedbug infestation, it is unsanitary. I payed for a towell in advance and never got it. The staff are super unhelpful, borderline rude. This place should be shut down. It ruined my amsterdam experience.

Bed bug infestation, staff unlocked our dorm to hoover whilst we were in there (not suitably dressed) we came back one day door had been unlocked and left open for anyone to enter. The toilets and showers were unclean, we chose not to shower as we didn’t have footwear to use in them. The beds were infested with bed bugs that we actually left the hostel a night early and booked a last minute hotel as we couldn’t stay there one more night. The atmosphere was very grungey. Would not recommend.

The place is extremely dirty. The photos posted on Hostel Word don't resemble reality in the slightest. The worst part is that the room was full of bedbugs. We complained at reception, but all they did was give us disinfectant to throw in the room. Everyone was complaining about the same thing. It's a disgrace. They can't keep publishing this on sites like Hostel Word.

I booked Princess Hostel Amsterdam (28 Aug–7 Sep 2025). On arrival my bed was infested with bedbugs. Reception admitted no other beds were available and promised I could cancel in the morning for a full refund. I left that night and found another hostel. Despite the promise, management refused a refund and even charged me again without consent. I contacted Hostelworld, who refunded my deposit and told me they are removing this hostel from their platform. Avoid at all costs.

We found ourselves very bad, we have bites of all imaginable insects, fleas and bedbugs, of which we have photos. We reported the problem but this was not solved, on the contrary, they advised us to go to another hostel: total indifference. For the problem they offered us a disinfectant that was actually a degreaser, and they didn't change our sheets even though we had expressly requested it. We advise you not to go there even if the price is affordable. DON'T GIVE A EURO TO THIS PLACE, IT NEEDS

This hostel was terrible. The worst bed bugs infestation I have ever come across. I will never go there again. The staff were completely dismissive of the problem as if I were the bad one. As a result I had masses of bits up my arms and legs and have been in severe discomfort ever since. I have written for a refund but as yet they have not refunded me.

Put me off of staying in hostels for the foreseeable future. The toilets we’re disgusting (there was only one toilet for the whole floor) There were bed bugs, this could not sleep peacefully. The window on the dorm did not close, so i could hear all the noises in the street (including the tram). The keycard stopped working in the morning for all the days i was there, so i had to get it changed. The locking mechanism in the locker was also broken.

Don't stay here. Seriously, stop !! Super dirty, infested with bed bugs & insects. Can't sleep, can't use the washroom or toilet. Super smelly. All pictures are lies. To Hostelworld admins and analysts, why are you entertaining such a bad hostel even after so many complaints and bad reviews. Conduct a surprise visit and you'll know the audacity of hostel management. If had a chance, would have filed a police complaint regarding hygiene and bugs. Disappointing stay with serious hygiene issues! The location was decent - close to nightlife and walkable to nearby spots, plus tram access made getting around Amsterdam convenient. However, that's where the positives end for this €20-35 (about £20-30) per night hostel in central Amsterdam. Accommodation: Shared a 4-bunk room but only had one other person on the top bunk - the other beds remained empty during my stay. The room was extremely dirty with dust and stains everywhere, looking nothing like the online photos. This felt more like a run-down, poorly maintained building with unpleasant interiors. Small sink in room with no mirror provided. Staff: Pleasant enough but not particularly friendly or helpful. They seemed more interested in chatting with 'female' guests than assisting with check-out, which was frustrating. Facilities: The single shared toilet/shower combo was small and dirty - thankfully no queues when I needed it. Shower pressure was strange and left the toilet floor wet for the next person; the ground didn't look clean for showering. Hot water was available but an unpleasant experience overall. Very steep stairs make access challenging. Tiny shared kitchen next to reception with practically just a sink and no real space. No proper luggage storage - just tiny lockers that won't fit a full backpack (they dont provide locks also). Sleep Quality: Extremely loud with shouting and various noises throughout the night. I found myself sleeping in segments due to the uncomfortable environment. Room became unbearably hot at night despite June temperatures of 19°C or less outside. Bedding: Mildly comfortable bed (not the worst) but pillow looked used - ensure they change covers if you stay. Small bright light attached for bed available. Major Health Concern: On the second day, I discovered BED BUGS among other smaller insects everywhere like lice - on blankets, pillows, and crawling on walls all sides of bed down top bunk too! This is completely unacceptable and poses serious health risks. My roommate on the top bunk had more infestations than the bottom. [ALSO THEY KNOW AND DONT WANT TO FIX IT CLEARLY] Atmosphere: Depressing and neglected feeling, completely lacking the vibrant, welcoming vibe you'd expect from a good hostel. People didn't feel like the best community. The whole experience felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Connectivity: Free internet that works and functioning charging outlets available. Despite the convenient location for exploring Amsterdam with easy tram connections, I strongly advise staying elsewhere even if it costs more - the bed bug infestation alone makes this place simply not worth the risk.

Upon arrival there was multiple men standing in front of the entrance smoking which was intimidating for me and my friends, when getting into our rooms we found dirt and dust everywhere and the shared showers and toilets were not cleaned throughout our visit at all. There were also bed bugs in the upstairs rooms and unfortunately my friend was covered in bites after her first night. Would not recommend at all.

Hello, We are writing to inform you that we have decided to check out earlier than planned due to several issues encountered during our stay. First of all, we unfortunately found bed bugs in our room, which is completely unacceptable. Additionally, the overall cleanliness of the hostel is very poor. We also had to sleep with the window open because of the heat, which resulted in a lot of noise during the night and strong light entering. The auberge was very dirty, we also find bedbugs. Awful!

Lo peor del mundo, realmente un asco de hostal. Tienen una sola ducha para todos, no había agua caliente, los pisos no los había limpiado en meses. Las sabanas estaban todas sucias, habían bed bugs. I had a horrific stay at the Princess Hostel who I have been chasing up for a refund. We stayed one of our four nights before deciding to book elsewhere. This was due to a mass bed bug infestation in our room. Aswell as that they overbooked our room seeing another guest asking for my bed at 2am. After this experience I have had a lot of trouble dealing with this hostel in receiving any refund which was promised. I would steer clear and do not recommend.

DON'T COME HERE!!!Worst youth hotel ever! The pictures about rooms they post online is nothing true! Serious bedbugs issues, very dirty environment, very bad management trying to play around without full refund and compensation! Everyone is leaving before the end of stay. They should not keep running business like this!! I've tried to report this to government and on twitter now. The management don't give a shxt after I told them I contacted government.

Don’t be deceived ! Looks clean at first glance but woke up with bed bugs bites all over my body , had to check out early so I couldn’t speak with the staff about it . Rubbish left in the bin from previous guests, light not working in the room , pressure terrible inside the showers. The only good thing is the location but I would not risk it . Had to decontaminate my luggage when got back home .

the staff is excellent, always available to everyone... the problem is the bed bugs, I woke up completely full of bites, the hygiene sucks and they should disinfect the whole building. .I had to throw away some clothes because of this problem and I'm using creams to remove the inflammation, the company should pay for the damage caused..

On the upside, I didn't get bed bugs. On the downside, this was by far the dirtiest hostel I've ever stayed in. The carpet is so dirty that when I walked up the stairs behind someone, I saw plumes of dust and dirt rise out of the carpet with every step they took. The shower is a low-pressure hose stuffed at the top of a box that occasionally releases hot water when the sensor works. The bathroom floors were littered with used toilet paper and the toilets caked in faeces. No kitchen ventilation.

The staff aren't especially nice and the whole place is old and worn, a bit smelly and even a bit dirty but nothing too horrible at first. We had two occasions when "staff" would come into our room unprecedented and just look around. We also found a bed bug and checked out early. The hostel still haven't responded to our e-mails and we still haven't gotten any sort of refunding. We lost money on the stay, to get rid of possible bed bugs in our belongings and developed a bunch of bed bug bites.

Absolutely horrible hostel. The room I booked had bed bugs in it, I seen a mouse run across the room when I first entered. Clearly this is a bug issue with the hostel because they’re were mouse traps in the room. The room itself was awful, rundown with exposed wires. It looks nothing like the photos in hostel world. When I said it to the receptionist that I wasn’t happy about it he above issues I was told I’d get my money back if I emailed them, they’ve haven’t responded to any emails or calls.
