Horrible staff and horrible stay
Pas un hostel, un café (fumeur) avec des chambres au rez-de-chaussée sans acceuil ni gardien ni personne en fait. On a littéralement vu personne.
Absolutely a great hostel. I had the private twin, a spacious clean room with bathroom. The hostel is on top of the hill, best view to the high Himalaya mountains. And best fresh air in town! Amazing staff 👏
A bit chilly, but that’s my fault for going to the Himalayas in January, I reckon
I stayed here for 5 days and honestly, it was a very basic stay. The room was not maintained properly. In 5 days, they cleaned the room only once — and that too after I went to the reception and requested them to clean it. The blankets were smelly, which made the stay uncomfortable. Also, they mentioned hot water facility in the rules, but there was no hot water available for bathing during my stay. Overall, the experience did not meet my expectations in terms of cleanliness and basic amenit...
The location is in a shady location. Atleast there should be proper guidance and better security
The room was cold and the shower (even though warm water was requested) was cold. It’s near impossible to find despite their hand drawn map and the staff aren’t very helpful. I also got locked in during the morning and missed the sunrise. Also the cafe area is just people smoking cigarettes indoors. Don’t go if you can avoid it.
Good view from property, but extremely difficult to locate the place.
This was a top tier hostel. The views, cleanliness, and food were of the highest level. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. It can be tricky to find because Google Maps does not do a good job with the area, but if you give the hostel a call they will give you good directions
Easy directions: Where ever you arrive in darjeeling, get on MALL ROAD. Ask anyone. Start walking uphill, it's not steep. Stay on Mall Road to CHOWRASTA, the main plaza. Ask anyone. At fountain there, take road to CAMPBELL COTTAGE, 300 meters. Ask anyone. Immediately after Campbell is Hideout. If u took shared taxi here u are an easy 20 min, 1 km away from hostel. At very start from taxi take any stairs uphill to Mall road to save walking. Light daily cleaning of rooms, no handsoap in bathroo...
Hideout Darjeeling is an excellent choice for travelers looking for a cozy and comfortable stay with breathtaking views. The property offers one of the best vantage points in town, making it perfect for enjoying Darjeeling’s stunning landscapes. Its location is another major plus—situated close to key attractions and cafes making it easy to explore the city on foot. Despite being centrally located, the hostel maintains a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The staff here are incredibly warm ...
The hostel is well located and has a nice cafe with a view on the mountains. Our room was large, clean and confortable. However, the place looks more like a hotel than a hostel (and not only because there were not many tourists during our stay): there is no organized activity and the staff does not seem to care about the atmosphere/recommendations on what to do or how to travel, etc.
Don't have hostel kind of vibe. There are zero amenities. Owner has converted few rooms of his house into a hostel.
We were not able to enjoy the place because we were very late, but otherwise, the place is a nice stay and has a good vibe
It is a reclusive hostel, difficult to find and in an unexpected location. One would recommend it solely for its views from the cafeteria, but having said that it was barren. It was clean, with supportive staff but not exactly what one would expect. Having stayed in hostels around multiple countries and ones in India, it was surely disappointing. The staff was kind, but then it was not worth the value and as per the expectations. (Sadly, not recommended for me)
The only thing this hostel has going for it is it’s in a convenient location although really hard to find with basically no signs. The building is badly insulated and is freezing day and night. The shower room smelt awful. The walls were damp so the staff would open all the windows to the bedroom everyday which made it even colder. Doors do not lock properly and I did not feel safe. It says they have a tour desk but when I asked at reception they didn’t offer any. Not worth the money, a...
A calm 'hideout' away from the busier streets of Darjeeling, & the cafe above the hostel makes for a lovely chill-out area, when not too busy with lunchtime crowds. Comfy beds, good wifi, & individual plug sockets at each bed. Abit of a walk up the hill - but worth it for the peaceful setting. Only 2 dorm rooms so not many guests, but this can obviously be good or bad. A nice stay - thank you.
Absolutely bad behaviour. Property manager was bullying us. Absolutely not worth the stay. Staff need to fix their attitude. Food is very very expensive and not worth it. Lot of things were unavailable on the Menu. There are lots of unnecessary rules and regulations to follow.
