Huge property - my friend & I stayed here on the second day of the Quilotoa Loop and had the entire place to ourselves. It’s a little past the main town so I think other hikers chose closer hostels, but we were happy for the peace & solitude. Owner/manager was so nice and we felt a little spoiled having dinner & breakfast cooked for just ourselves. The packed lunch we were given for the hike the next day was perfect. Great value for the price. We had a lovely time!
My partner and I stayed here on our second night while trekking to Quilotoa and really enjoyed our stay! The room was very comfortable and Victor provided the most welcoming environment. The food was amazing and we loved the homemade cheese! We also loved being right next to the trailhead. We had to walk through town to get here, however it was worth it to get a head start on day 3 of our trek. We also loved being able to use the sauna. Highly recommend this hostel!
This place was so homey and comfortable! The man who works there (owns it?) was absolutely delightful, the local cheese to die for, the saunas lovely and the doggos/baby llama were just icing on the cake. Perfect second night for the Quilotoa Loop.
We really enjoyed our stay at el Vaquero! It was our second night on the Quilotoa Loop. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and the lunchbox (3,5$) has a lot of nice stuff. Room was big and clean, we had towels and soap. Bed was comfy. There is a sauna and a Turkish bath (3$), looked nice but we didn't try it. The staff was really nice and helpful, we felt really welcome! The track continues just outside of the hostel and you have a great view of the valley. Would definitely come back :)
