Tony was lovely. My room did not lock from inside, the bathroom floor had A LOT of hair that wasn’t mine. The toilet water had to be turned on/off each time to fill the tank. The patio is still closed. Upon inspection, I don’t know why?? The host & location are the best it’s got going for it. Tony really was nice enough to share local suggestions which was great but I wouldn’t stay there again.
Molto tranquillo, a me è piaciuto
Nice hostel. Especially the host Tony was very very helpful, you could ask him anything and he had amazing recommendations. Furthmore, we liked that it was in front of the market, so you could try all kinds of foods.
Worst hostel I have been so far in South America. Not social, missing atmosphere, quite dirty and the rooftop was unusable. Not recommended at all
Great location and the host Tony was friendly and informative! I came to Cuenca with no plans and he gave me a bunch of ideas for an itinerary. Thanks to him I had an amazing trip. The private room and bathroom was a really good deal as well. Would love to return!
Tony is a welcoming and knowledgeable host filling us in on walking routes, best food etc. Rooms are a bit tired and ours lacked a proper curtain at the window but it was well priced so you get what you pay for.
lovely building but not a social one. great guy running the place who helped me when i wasnt well
I had a really lovely stay here. A clean room, en-suite, reliable internet inside the room and throughout the hostel to work. Tony is a great host who has a wealth of knowledge on Ecuador, both its history and all that it has to offer. He has excellent travel plans too for those who are not sure where to head next. The offer of tea on arrival was a caring touch. The property was clean, central, safe. It was quiet during the evening so I slept well every night.
I stayed here for 4 nights in a private room. I had everything i needed. The Hostel is infront of the biggest market in Cuenca, which is nice to have an authentic breakfast or lunch. The owner has taken a lot of time for me to show me what i can do in Cuenca, but also in Southamerica. He was always available. You will feel very save and welcome.
El mejor anfitrión que me toco durante mi viaje por Ecuador. La dicha solo que no tenia mucha presión y la terraza estaba cerrada y lamentablemente por eso había escogido este lugar..
There is currently no terrace available, also no kitchen, which means there is no social life, no common spaces. It would be good to update what the hostel offers and what it doesn’t offer. Rooms are simple, lighting really bad. If you just need a room to sleep and spend all your days outside, go for it. If not, there are better options.
My friend and I had a great stay at El Cafecito! We returned to the hostel several times as we were making our way around Ecuador. The hostel has a great location near various markets and it is easy to walk and explore the city from there. When our plans changed, Tony was incredibly helpful and assisted us with creating a new itinerary to explore other parts of Ecuador. Would highly recommend!
Owner is a lovely guy, really helpful and clearly knows the city. I had two issues here. First, the rooftop (everyone’s major highlight) was closed during my stay, and I think if that’s their main selling point they should let folks know before they arrive. Second, next to my bed by the window it looked like a pigeon had been sleeping rough… several feathers, what looked like it could be droppings, really just nasty and dirty. I didn’t sleep there. Wouldn’t return.
Great chill hostel. Staff very nice and friendly. And the rooftop view is a vibe.
hostel located right on the square, entrance is kind of hard to spot but owner sent us all the info we needed before we arrived. owner was so so friendly, sat down with us and showed us all the attractions to see and shared a map so we knew where we were going. beds were big and comfy and quiet considering it was on the square. rooftop terrace was lovely with a great view and blankets for comfort. only downside is lack of kitchen available to cook personal meals.
Very nice hostel, amazing host with great recommendations what to explore in Cuenca 👍 Bathrooms could be a bit less wet, but overall very clean, safe and cool. Enjoy the rooftop terrace ☀️
Tony is such a nice host, and gave us the most helpful recommendations for the rest of our trip. Being a travel planner himself he is more than qualified for this, and he was always happy to answer our questions. El cafecito has a big rooftop where with good vibes always- it seems like everyone we met we somehow got to know here. We booked 4 nights and ended up staying 7. Location is very central with walking distance to everything. Can definitely recommend El Cafecito!
