Thanks to the kindness of the Swedish worker there, Sebastian, I would highly recommend this hostel 👌 It has a surf camp feeling to it !
Cigarette ash in most places tables, floors, kitchen (area); external tables and seating particularly. Toilets cleaned only every 2x days. No soap in showers, Free breakfast not available. Tea &ciffee - only when supplies available I.e. “intermittent” at best. If you are a smoker then likely acceptable, if not go elsewhere. .
I liked to stay here a lot. The position is on a little hill above the city centre, surrounded by the most attractive archeological sites. From the room of the hostel you can also enjoy a nice view of the city centre. The stuff is very friendly and helpful all the time, and you can enjoy a conversation till late night in the large garden/entrance, surrounded by ortodox churches, the roman theater, the ethnographic museum, the Ottoman ruins and the top of the hill archeological site.
Good position in the centre of Plovdiv and gentle stuff, but the place wasn't clean and the air conditioning wasn't working.
I was skeptic about the place because last reviews were over a year ago. The host is a great guy, very friendly and polite. He’s helpful as well. The toilet smelled pee very strongly. Bed is not clean, had a bottle and peanuts on the side. Location is great. Another issue is that it had no “traveller” vibe, and 2 felt like they were long-term residents, which is not cool. For 14€ a night, it should be improved. Good luck!
good property and facilities, friendly staff
Ivan was lovely and made sure that I had everything I needed for the stay. A relaxed easy hostel although with long-term stayers. Very budget but sufficient for a night or two.
Great location. But disgusting bathrooms . No privacy. At this time it’s not a hikers hostel it’s a place for men looking for cheap place and not for travelers especially women there’s basically no way to cook on non functioning slow tiny warm plate . Manager is likeable but very busy. Man cleaning sheets and towels is pleasant
Great location in the old town. Beware appears to be group of long-term stays of older men. As a result, couple groups of old men congregate nightly which can impact the vibe. Also, dorm is large up to 16 beds which at levels high
In the facilities offered they mention unlimited tea and coffee, there was neither at the property. The toilets absolutely stank of pee, the upstairs room was a bit dodgy, the bed creaked every time I rolled over. The kitchen cooktops didn’t work, I couldn’t even cook noodles. The guy that worked there was nice and available most of the time.
This place is weird, would NOT recommend. Positives: good location, free laundry, good showers, clean sheets, nice view. Negatives: rubbish under bed. People kept nicking food out the fridge. A homeless (?) british guy staying there long term sh1t his pants and didnt shower or change for days. TERRIBLE security, no locks on rooms, front door left open through the night, the only lock was on the yard gate which was left open half the time. Pay the extra for Hostel Old Plovdiv nearby, way...
I've stayed at this place many times over the years and have always had a pleasant stay. The staff and guests are all so friendly. I arrived this time with a broken leg and was unable to do much. But the people here, staff and guests, have all been so helpful. They know I can barely walk and can't move very fast. They offer to go to the shops for me, help me with anything I need to do. They look after me better than the hospital did. I highly recommend this place.
“The essence of a hostel” - some guy there
This was just an amazing experience. The people are so nice! Really had a community feeling. When arriving everyone gets a locker, where you can keep your belongings safe. There is a communal kitchen outside: to boil water, microwave, oven, … everything you need! I got sick (because I ate something bad at a restaurant) and they treated me so nicely. The staff even went to the pharmacy. Thank you for this experience! :)
the hostel is so beautiful and the people there were so nice
Very nice personnel. Good hostel
I enjoyed my stay here a lot. The guy who owns the place is great, as is the atmosphere and the people I met here. However, the lack of security on the main building is a bit of a concern for me, as it’s very easy for people to just walk in and out on a whim.
Every worker at this hostel was very helpful. Nasko, in particular, helped me out in a few ways even after I had checked out already, and even though he was very busy at the front desk with check-ins.
