Gregory House

Amazing hostel. It’s so green, good food, really nice and helpful staff. Very nice vibes. It’s a little outside the city but absolutely worth it. It’s quiet with a beautiful river view.

Let's talk location. It is not downtown *but* has one of the prettiest views overlooking Lake Gregory and the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka behind it. Very peaceful, very relaxing. Staff were friendly. I'm glad I chose this over something downtown.

Fantastic stay here. Beautiful view of the lake, nice private room and very friendly staff. Not super social but we did meet and chat to other guests here.

Unfortunately, the room looks completely different from the photos. The bathroom is covered in black mold and the toilet is right next to the shower, which is why the toilet seat is always wet. You can't flush properly, so the whole room smells like urine. The mattresses are worn out and the person in the lower bed has to worry that the person in the upper bed won't fall through. At least it's cheap.

It’s a nice place near the lake and you can’t say anything bad about the staff as well, but there was SO much black mold in our room and bathroom, you could actually smell it. The bed also was one of the most uncomfortable from our time in Sri Lanka.

Very friendly staff, clean rooms, nice breakfast and you have a great view of the Gregory Lake :)

Lovely peaceful stay in Nuwara Eliya, the location is great as it has a beautiful view of the lake and a short walk to restaurants, and a short tuktuk to the markets. The hosts were lovely and accommodating and our stay was overall very enjoyable.

The place is great, the staff is very cool, and they have the cutest dog in the world. The food that they made was awesome, breakfast was perfect and the dinner is also good! But they could have been more clear about the reservations. I asked when I arrived if I could stay for 3 nights, they said it was OK, but I just got kicked out of the hostel because I didn't make a reservation? It was very vague and communication was not good

This property has good reviews and I’m really not sure why. We were surprised how unhelpful the staff were when asking basic tourist questions and that they do not help guests with their bags on arrival even though it was torrentially raining outside. The bedrooms are quite run down and the bathroom/wetroom has a bad smell - it is however a nice location by the edge of the lake however I wouldn’t recommend to stay here.

It’s good for a night. Not social at all, but very nice location close to the lake. I liked the breakfast a lot and the beds were very comfy. Unfortunately the bathroom smelled bad and everything was wet all the time.

Gregory house hostel is right on the lake in nuwara eliya and is a fabulous place to stay! Suji is an incredible host not only at the hostel but also through his bike tour with Ceylon Paradise Trails. I cannot recommend enough doing the bike tour as Suj and his brother Satheesh show you around Nuwara Eliyah in the best way and from every aspect, including tea, strawberry farms, temples and incredible views. They are kind and helpful hosts and made me and my friend feel so at home! Thank you!

Highly recommend this hostel! Very clean, friendly staff and lovely breakfast. Our host took us on a very authentic tour of the town, MUST DO! We also were taken on a cycling tour through little England. Thank you for a great stay!

My friend and I got food poisoning at a restaurant in NE and we got taken care of so so well at Gregory House. They really went above and beyond to help us feel better! The dorms and private rooms are also really nice. Can’t recommend it enough, thanks again for all the good care!

perfect stay! it has a really relaxed vibe, nice beds and blankets (you will need it). although it's a little out of centre it's still walkable and has nice view over the lake without car noises. the breakfast was great and he even made me a special sandwich as I went out very early on a hike. they also provide good simple dinner for a reasonable price and great way to socialise. as a traveller I felt really at at ease!

Manoj was a really friendly and generous host, and helpful advising what to do and even organising several TukTuks for us. Nice room with hot shower and delicious breakfast. Really recommend Gregory house to anyone visiting Nuwara Eliya! Thank you so much Manoj!!

Gemeinschaftsräume gang nett. Frühstück war sehr gut. Badezimmer schmutzig. Schimmel im Zimmer. Lage ist auch nicht die Beste.
