+ The host and the location! Located right outside of Wasgamua National Park, we were surrounded by nature. We spent every morning birdwatching from the deck and easily record 20+ birds in one sitting. The breakfasts were HUGE and delicious, made by the host’s mom. Supun was a great host who has a good eye for wildlife. He took us on an evening half day safari and we spotted elephants, jackals, and many bird species. This safari was cheaper and better than any safari at a more popular park. We only ran into 2 other jeeps the entire trip. Supun also took us on many walks where we met other families in the village and got to experience Sri Lankan hospitality.
- The amenities are basic. If you’re a stickler for clean facilities, you may struggle here. Showers are cold but bearable. This stay is also out in the jungle so mosquitos and bugs in the room are almost a guarantee. With that said, the experience more than makes up these minor discomforts.
+ We had a truly wonderful stay with Supun — an unforgettable human experience. He did everything he could to make our stay perfect, and we genuinely felt at home from the very first moment. There are encounters in life that leave a lasting mark, and Supun is definitely one of them. The place is calm, surrounded by nature, and filled with kindness. We wholeheartedly recommend staying here to anyone looking for authenticity, peace, and a meaningful connection. Thank you, our friend — we will never forget this experience.
- Bed comfort was poor; we slept badly every night.
+ The hotel are not avilablele that date. there own bookings mention date ,i have to face lot of difficults to find the place that my state in riverston.becouse long weekend . Its not worth to made a booking .com becouse they are not getting any responsiblelity. and no direct contact with property owner. I belive booking .com getting action for this .
+ We had a great time with supun (owner) and his happy house! It’s a really nice quite place on the countryside near a lake that you can walk to within one minute to watch the sunrise or sunset! His dog, dobby, is super cute and is also at home at the happy house! We also did a safari tour with supun which was great because we saw many elephants but we’d recommend just going for the afternoon safari as we did a full day and didn’t see much until after lunch break :) It was still a nice day though and when we got home supuns mum cooked for us which was very delicious!
- There wasn't any air conditioning so it was quite hot at night.
+ This place is a real retreat in the nature. The accommodation is located in authentic rural surroundings and from the host Supun and his family we learned a lot about local life. The visit to local buddhist temple was unforgettable experience. The safari was wonderful, we saw about 60 elephants and both Supun and the driver have a good eye for all kinds of animals and birds. Other nature trips and activities are also possible. Supun's mum is a great cook, all meals were lovely. Thank you! We would love to come back.
+ In the middle of nowhere, middenin de natuur.
+ We stayed one night at the Happy House with Supun. He is a very attentive and friendly host. Various interesting activities are offered. We chose the safari in Wasgamuwa National Park. Supun organised the safari for us and even came with us into the park. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to show us everything in detail. Highly recommended. The accommondation is very simple and does not offer much luxury. Getting there is an aventure. It is better to have Supun pick you up from the main road. In conclusion, we can say that the stay was a valuable experience and a beautiful part of our trip to Sri Lanka, as Supun gave us an insight to local life. We would choose the happy house again.
+ Die Lage ist traumhaft schön. Die von ihm organisierte Safari war top.
+ If you want to slow down and feel real wild nature, this is the perfect place. The location is not for everyone – the house is deep in the wild, and you won’t find it easily on GPS! But that’s part of the charm. The host is very friendly and helpful, and he offers many activities in the area.He also had fresh passionfruit growing near the house, and we could try them straight from the tree – a real treat! He even went with us to Wasgamuwa National Park, which was one of the most beautiful experiences of our lives.
+ We had such a memorable stay at Happy House, Supan was a great host and was more than happy to show what his local area had to offer. He arranged our safari for a very reasonable price and we felt very lucky to see over 50 elephants on our visit! The place is basic but great if you want to sit back and enjoy being in nature. We especially loved the food Supan's family provided. We would definitely recommend staying here if you're visiting Wasgamuwa national park.
+ Beautiful location and lovely people. Brilliantly positioned for a safari and right on a gorgeous lake where you can swim. The food cooked by Sapun’s (sorry about the spelling)mother were some of the best Sri Lankan dishes we had over the entire holiday and sitting by the fire pit watching the fireflies after dinner as our two boys caught frogs in the garden was really special. Would highly recommend a stay here - you won’t be disappointed!
- Nothing - it was great!
+ Great owner that is really accomodating, friendly and helpfull.
- Erwartet kein seelenloses Luxus Resort ;)
