The hostel is very nice and clean. I would describe it more as a bed & breakfast. The bus terminal is within walking distance. The kitchen is for staff use only! Guests have access to a refrigerator, microwave and electric kettle. When I stayed there, it was very quiet and not really social. So if you want to spend a few quiet days in a private room, it's definitely a good choice.

Beautiful hostel was lovely to relax here in the evening, facilities are good tho basic if you want to cook for yourself, amazing breakfast, lovely doggos, and lovely helpful staff!

Super cute hostel. They have a small cafe onsite that does the BEST pumpkin soup we have ever tried. Some cute dogs appear every now and then which are very friendly and chilled. Shower rooms were big and rooms very comfortable. Would recommend if staying in La Serena.

Great place to stay in La Serena. Lovely room and patio, good food, convenient location and helpful staff. More of a guesthouse than a hostel.

The staff was amazing and the place was immaculate. It’s a very cute place to stay.

Nice private room with comfortable bed. Great location near the bus station and city centre. There is a kitchen but guests can't use it. There is a very small fridge and microwave with some cutlery so you can make meals and there is a table in the courtyard to eat. Not ideal but ok for a couple of days.

Gorgeous house and super helpful staff. The breakfast was nice but other food ordered from their kitchen wasn’t great. Overall very nice but not too good to meet others because it’s more like a hotel.

Our brief stay at Hostal El Punto was very enjoyable. It is a short walk to the bus terminal, town square and japanese garden. The bathroom was clean and the bed was decent. The service was great and the building felt very secure. We were able to store our luggage once reception opened at 8am and also switch our breakfast option for our arrival day since we were hungry and leaving very early in the morning our check-out day. Breakfast was a large spread. This isn't a party hostel and was calm.

I didn’t stay here for long, so I didn’t have time to explore the neighbourhood, but there were many good points. First, it’s super close to the bus station. The restaurant at the hostel saved me a lot of time was at a reasonable price. The breakfast buffet was the best and the staff were very helpful. The common areas of the hostel are well designed. Otherwise, ventilatilon in the rooms is lacking and the number of doors to unlock to get in is a bit cumbersome, but that’s all I can thin...

No kitchen to cook in really, not social when I was there, but nice staff especially those that work in the kitchen, good price on big bottles of beer, decent breakfast

Convenient to bus station. Not so much to anything else. Lovely little Shangri La inside.

Great atmosphere, nice rooms and the home-cooked food available from 4pm-8pm was very affordable and a good option for dinners. The shared showers felt very private as separate not cubicles. Good security with the two locked doors and staff by the front door. Would be nice if there was more of a kitchen to cook own food and breakfast was simple (bread, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, meat slices and jams) but does the job. Room was a little dusty especially on the lampshade but otherwise very cosy!

nice hostel, good rooms, nice staff and good location. the rooms are not very soundproof though, and you can hear most of what is going on inside the patio or other rooms. also, the breakfast was lacking - not even providing coffee...

Hostal El Punto Was ok. The staff were friendly and kind, and the property well kept. The breakfast was basic, although I had a hard time as I have celiac and the main item was a few large pieces of bread. I wound up leaving early as I wanted to be closer to star gazing opportunities in the Elqui Valley. Was a bit of a walk to the beach. Would recommend as a good place to stop if you’re passing through.

Lovely atmosphere! Comfortable to hang in the outdoor common spaces. Dinner from the hostel was affordable and delicious.
