Egmont Eco Leisure Park

The owners were really lovely and welcoming but unfortunately the beds were insanely uncomfortable (very hard, springy and lumpy) and the pillow was so flat its was virtually nonexistent. The kitchen was fine although they could have more utensils (couldn’t find a tin opener for my sweetcorn!)

Als wir angekommen sind, hat uns eine freundliche Mitarbeiterin empfangen. In unserem Zimmer hat‘s gemuffelt. Das WC & die Dusche waren nicht ganz sauber, aber für ein Hostel völlig okay. Wir haben drei Nächte gebucht, sind allerdings am letzten Abend früher gegangen. Wir waren zu zweit und ganz alleine. Alle Türen standen offen. Jede Person konnte rein- und rauslaufen, wie sie wollte?! Zudem sind unsere Schuhe verschwunden, die wir nicht mehr finden konnten. Alles ein bisschen komi...

Schönes Hostel mit einer einladenden, versteckten Terrasse. Küche neu eingerichtet und sauber. Die Gastgeberin war super lieb und hilfsbereit.

Lynn was more than accommodating my late arrival. Met up with a great group of fellow travelers. I found the bed more than comfortable for my taste. Beautiful setting.

Overall good option in New Plymouth.

I paid a deposit through hostel world and was supposed to pay $80 when arrived, they took the whole $95 from me on 31st Dec from my acc, still have not received the refund for them over charging me, the man I was emailing from the hostel was rude and just stopped replying, they were not nice people so I didn't want to being it up again when we got there, he wanted me to send my credit card details over email to refund me my $14.25, which is not secure at all. Unclean & smelt as well.

Wir sind angekommen und wurden von der sehr freundlichen Chefin empfangen. Als wir in das 40 Grad heiße 10er Zimmer ohne Fenster gingen, welches direkt an der Küche war, traf uns der Schlag. Es gab kein richtiges Badezimmer. Nur auf der Campsite draußen. Die Küche im oberen Gebäude war leider zu klein und wenn man unter ihr schläft, hört man jeden Schritt. Es gab nur 1 Waschmaschine und 1 nicht funktionierender Trockner für alle Gäste und die Bettwäsche!! Alles war noch nass!!!

The staff was super friendly but unfortunately the hostel itself was not really inviting. The beds were quite loud and uncomfortable, the bathroom wet a lot of times. It would have been great to have some basic supplies and equipment in the kitchen. The location was fine but you probably need a car to get around. There were enough parking spots.

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was awful. Walls are extremely thin and you can hear everyone stomping around and talking loudly which was not ideal if trying to sleep. Our room smelt musty and damp and was filled with bugs upon arrival... beds were very uncomfortable and unpleasant. We had a private room and as we were out for the day we came back to notice our window open in our room meaning someone had gone into our room with all of our stuff in while we were out. Slightly off putting.

The staff and security were alright but the place in total is just not worth the money to be honest… I had a private room with a discount for 80$ but it was really basic, the bed was comfy but the windows didn’t close properly so I could hear a lot of noise from the street. The light from the park house was shining in the whole night…. Toilets couldn’t be closed, showers were falling of, gas in the kitchen was not really working. My rating is lower than expected because: - the facilities of the hostel, even if working, are limited (specially kitchen space) or old. - beds (specially in the house) are very old and not at all comfortable. - people arriving at any time of the evening/night to shared rooms made it difficult to rest. - wifi only available in the house (but the facilities are much bigger). Lynn was so kind and lovely to chat with. The washrooms and kitchen are always clean, unless other hostel guests didn't do their part.. Bed matress and pillows need an upgrade. The creek walk to the city center is lovely (maybe 20-25 minutes), the location is perfect if you want somewhere quiet and a bit away from the city. Ask them if you can be there when they feed the ells in the backyard, SO MANY of them!!

Avoid! Said one price on the website then when we arrived they said they'd been 'hacked' and that it was now more expensive, seemed fishy. Also happened to 6 other people we met in the hostel.

I really enjoyed my time there.It is a calm Hostel and more like a Hollyday Park.Park is the right word, because of the peaceful nature you can finde there at the campingground.It is good for a change, to have a more quiet place to rest, without Tv:).

Wifi is only at the reception availaible and limited to 100 mb/day. The beds are very old.

GREAT VALUE. Lynn and her partner are very friendly and helpful. Lounge: comfortable, well-lit, and away from the bedrooms (except #10). Kitchen: small with cubbyholes and fridge/freezer. Bed: thin, uncomfortable, terrible pillow. Bath: clean, but only 3 showers and 3 toilets for everyone in the building. Property: 20- to 30-minute walk from City Center. No air conditioning or fans. Poor WiFi; not suitable for high data use, online work.

It was a good place of you want to just have a place to lay your head. There is nothing special about it. The room was basic and the bed was almost a cot matress and the bed frame was a basic metal beadframe. The weather was causing the door to make noise through the night and made sleep harder. I have been to many hostels through the world and it was an ok place. I had a little higher hopes for the place but at least the staff was nice and accommodating.
