Bamboo's House

The staff and especially "Mr. Bamboo" are really nice and helpful. But my room smelled really bad (could be mold on the wall) , so did the pillows. My room had no real window. The location is very close to a very nice beach and the restaurants in front serve fresh seafood.

an sich hat das Hostel Potential, weil die Rooftopbar echt schön ist. Aber die Wände in unserem Zimmer waren komplett verschimmelt.

Grundsätzlich ganz oke, der Preis ist jedoch zu hoch für was man bekommt. Es war jemand in unserem Zimmer als wir weg waren ohne unsere Erlaubnis.

Honestly one of the worst hostels I've ever stayed at. The beds were quite uncomfortable, the bathroom wasn't cleaned once during my three nights and the common areas all were not really inviting to hang around. The hostel owner kind seemed uninterested in most things and sometimes randomly came into our dorm to take a shower. The price was alright, but Dong Hoi is really not worth visiting. If you wanna see the caves go to Phong Nha directly.

Great Hostel, large and comfy bed, just in front of the beach. The owner offered me a beer on the rooftop when I arrived and gave me great recommendations. You have a free bicycle and can rent a bike to go see the cave!

Don’t recommend to stay there

I had a pleasant stay here. There weren’t a lot of people around but the host was very accommodating and let me join a phong nha tour very last minute. I didn’t love the location, but would be fine if you use the motorbikes or a grab.

Bamboo is very helpful host that helps you with almost anything you will need help with. Awesome terrace. The only downside that it is not that central. However bikes to use for free available!

Bamboo is a hero, nothing but good things about him and his hostel

Good location, good rooftop, amazing owner. The only small issue was the toilet leaked (clean water). The owner Bamboo was incredibly sweet and well informed, he drove us around all day taking us to a cave, the duck stop and a good lunch spot. He recommended breakfast spots and helped us with last minute reservations for the train even going as far as having someone go to the train station to get us the tickets because you couldn’t get them online.

Great Hostel in Dong Hoi. Mr. Bamboo was great during my stay. The hostal is a bit far from the action but they offer free bikes to explore the city. Literally it is located in front of the beach. To sad that I was there during the low season. I definitely will come back!

Would recommend. For the price it is worth it. Mr. Bamboo is very helpful. Score would be higher if AC and bathroom fan was not broken

We only booked one night at Bamboo’s House to get a train from Dong Hoi but we wish we’d stayed longer - both the hostel and town had so much to offer! The room was perfect and the bed was really comfy, and the rooftop bar looking over the beach was gorgeous. The host was so friendly and really helpful, we loved our stay here.

Great location. Go to the rooftop for a great view. I chose a private room and it was exactly what I needed before a flight. I was immediately welcome by staff and taken cared of. Great service at an affordable price.

I wrote them day before booking to ask about transfer and they told me they couldn’t offer me the bed bc toilet was broken. All other hostels in Dong Hoi were fully booked at that time.

Very pleasant stay - Bamboo is very knowledgeable about the surrounding cave tours and adventure experiences. He will organise the tours and payment on your behalf. Free bicycles for use, laundry service and other amenities - as well as two motorcycles to daily rent if required. Would be ideal for those more inclined for overnights cave adventures and experiences - he himself has experience in Son Dong! He can help you organise the required gear and planning.

I enjoyed my stay, the family are very kind and have good english, the surrounding area can sometimes be noisy in the early morning. I would stay here again :)
