Sid and Eliza are great hosts, but this is not a hostel. It’s a spare bedroom in someone’s home. They have to let you in and out every time. If you want to life like a local, where you pre-heat your water, go here. If you’re young and want to party, look elsewhere.

I enjoyed my stay with this kind, friendly and helpful family. The bed is extremely comfortable and I had fans to help me sleep in the heat. The hosts are really helpful and knowledgeable of the city + surrounding area and speak English, Japanese and of course Portuguese. They gave me great tips and advice. They also helped me find tickets for a Flamengo game in the Maracanã. House is right beside the Escalera de Selarón which is a must see sight.

A fabulous stay that felt like being with family—Elisa was so kind and helpful. The hostel truly feels like home and has everything you could ask for, right in the downtown. The only downsides were that there’s only an address number in front with no sign, and it would be perfect if there were air conditioning.

The best place to stay in Rio. Located just a few block from Escadaria Selaron in Lapa neighborhood. The owner Elisa is such an attentive and a lovely person, she is absolutely knowledgeable and always willing to help. She made me feel at home, she gave me the best places and recommendations to visit. I couldn't recommend more this place, definitely staying here again! Thank you for everything!!! 👏 💯

Great location just behind the famous Selarion Stairs. Even better host. Friendly, helpful. Similar aged building as the historical surrounding but well maintained house. Gold stay.

Amazing stay at Elisa’s place. They make you feel really comfortable and are so helpfull. Perfect for a quiet stay in the center of Rio.

Elisa and Sid were great hosts! The hostel is right next to the Arcos de Lapa and is close to many important attractions and amazing nightlife. Both Elisa and Sid gave great recommendations and know the city very well. They were super welcoming, kept everything clean and were very warm hosts. I would definitely rebook! 😊

This was the best place I stayed in all of Rio. Elisa makes you feel at home, when you are far away from home. The house is beautiful in the middle of the city and she is so helpful. Really helped me a lot on this long journey. I recommend staying here if you come to Rio. Other places dull in comparison. Thank you for making me feel so at home

Great location, close to everything - I mostly used Uber and got there and back easily. The host family were very friendly and caring and committed. It was interesting to hear about their journey and how they ended up running a place here. I got privacy when wanted but also company when needed. Great place to practice Portuguese skills, if wanted.

Very nice, little privat hostel. The owner is very kind and the facility has everything you need for a stay in Rio. You can come and go 24/7, so perfect to explore the night in Lapa. It was the second time I stayed here, and I will be there defently the next time ;)
