Such a peaceful hostel surrounded by dense trees - it feels tranquil and fully immersed in nature. I love the energy of the place. The beach is just a 20-minute walk away. Great facilities and a beautiful open kitchen. Sandy and Mark are so warm and welcoming, and the furry friend Loki is an absolute joy. I met some wonderful people during my short trip to Port Stephens from Sydney. So glad I stayed here, would definitely come back in summer ❤️

Great stay. A bit hard to find as it is in the middle of nowhere, but overall port stephan’s and this hostel is definitely worth the visit if traveling the east coast!

Such a cool location & atmosphere! Staff are also very kind, approachable, & all-around wonderful. Rooms, bathrooms, and common areas were kept clean & there was a ton of things to do on the property itself. The wildlife is abundant and can be seen within the location. Loki the dog was definitely a highlight - We can’t wait to return :)

We had the most amazing experience at Samurai. It was a lovely break from the city and you really feel at one with nature. Sandy is a lovely lady who shows great care to guests and is genuinely interested in everyone’s plans and adventures! Could recommend this hostel enough!

Really great host, good price ! The location is very cool because it’s in between trees and bushes, the kitchen is open and to go to the toilet you have to leave your house. For me personally it was a bit too much in the wild, it was exactly how described and expected but I underestimated it especially once it was dark. There is a bus station right on the street which can take you to Nelson bay or to Newcastle so it’s reachable through public transportation, but it leaves “only” every ...
