Bathroom needed a lot of work, no toilet seat, hooks barely hanging on, no shelf for clothing. bed was dirty. guy next to us had bed bugs. the lock for our door was so difficult to open someone inside needed to let us in every time. also the beds were tiny and the mattress very thin, very difficult to sleep.

Good hostel. Nice people. Stairs and trash smelt like weed - but that’s expected in amsterdam. I did find one bed bug in my bed. GREAT location, very central, but on a street with clubs so you can hear the bass a little tiny bit. Pretty clean and would stay again

The worst hostel i have ever been. It was extremely dirty , bed bugs bite me in 2 of their rooms and they just didn't care. I took photos of the bugs and they pretended that nothing happened – i even had allergic reaction.. The toilets were also disgusting. It was really bad experience and for sure it's not value for the money. I don't know how people sleep there, I left..

I found a bed bug in my room, and they just moved me, but should’ve really closed off the room. Not an especially clean hostel, but it has a good location. Would not stay again however.

Reception and Staff very nice. However I had bed bug bites after one night... Another con is that in a room for 15 people there is only one bathroom. Location is fine, it's on the street that is full of bars, but it isn't disturbing. A small 'kitchen' - a place to boil water, free coffee, sometimes snacks. Wouldn't stay againg because of bed bugs. If not that I would consider coming back.

the hosel was the worst i've stayed in and deterred me from staying at hostels in the future. there were bed bugs that were not addressed, no AC, extremely loud noise, and a loud snorer who kept everyone in my room awake all night. the place advertised itself as having 24/7 customer service so i tried to switch room after not being able to sleep but no one was around to help. for this price and such low quality beds and amenities, it is not a deal whatsoever.

Unfortunately, I should have believe the comments... I had the unluck to have bed bugs. I was not the only one to have some. I hope the staff will take the time to clean the place well, as it seems to be something frequent. But at least, the staff were really nice! The rooms are not soundproof at all. I know that I took a mixed rooms as they don't have female only room. However I found myself with 10 guys, so if you are a girl and wouldn't like that situation, be aware that it can happ

I stayed here from 5-8 July, I got bitten by bed bugs, whilst the staff were initially very understanding and sorry and said I would be given a discount, the manager has since been rude via email and said there is no discount rate and denying I got bitten. The property itself felt unsafe, with no lock on the main door which is on the street of bars, and anyone could walk up outside the room yourself staying in. Apart from that one staff was very nice.

DO NOT STAY AT HOSTEL LEIDSEPLEIN. I left literally covered in bed bug bites that have only gotten more painful and itchy since I've been home. I found a live bedbug in my bed on my last morning there and took it to the front desk. The front desk person was appropriately disgusted, but said I would need to talk to the manager about a refund. I have emailed several times and never gotten any response at all. I stayed in room 4 for three nights, June 19-22, 2025.

The staff is very direct when speaking. Comes off as unfriendly. Might be a culture thing. There were bed bugs in the room I stayed. Be ware. The cheap price might not be worth the trouble. Social life was none existent. If you can afford other hostels I would recommend to do so.

The receptionist was slow and dont accept cards. Going into the room, my first impression was not good. There was always a risk of getting bit my bedbugs. Checked all the corners but didnt find in mine but found one in the corner of another bed. It was really dirty at the edges. There is not a single hanger to hang cloths and the beds are so small to stretch the legs. Rooms are not soundproof and always noise from outside. Unhealthy environment inside.

The worst hostel I have ever been to. Beds were not long enough to accommodate my legs, dirty, you can always hear sounds from bars, clubs even people talking outside while the window is shut. A lot of people complained about bedbugs, we have seen a bed bug as well. You need to bring your own lock to secure the locker and so on.

Good location, nice staff, decent free coffee in the morning, but one bathroom to a 14 bed shared dorm is meagre. I was also bitten to bits by bed bugs.

Out of all the hostels I’ve stayed at, this hostel takes the whole cake for being absolutely garbage. The beds were infested with bed bugs, went to the front desk to report the bed bugs and the staff basically just shrugged it off, supplying zero help whatsoever. Might be better off sleeping with the screaming hobos outside of this trash hostel. Also was so hot and sweaty in the packed rooms with tiny lockers. And only 1 of the windows would open. The shower In the bathroom would flood the room.

Really really dirty, it seems like the place Dont get cleaned at all… It was bedbugs in every room and the staff did not bother to do anything about it! We even got to wash all the clothes We got with us and vacuum our bags which cost us a lot of money! Dont go there, its also a ”party-street” outside so you are not gonna get much sleep! Overall rate: Dirty, bedbugs and not comfortable

The room was infested by bed bugs. When we try to reach the manager, impossible to have his name or his number. They try to dissuatde us to wait for the manager. At the end, we wait 2h30 to have in-person discussion with the manager. When we speak about the issue with him, he shouted at us, insulted us and won't dialogue. Before that, we have to pay by cash (without further explanation) half of our reservation and instit to have the receipt.

The place is horrible-- 1. No cleanliness - bed bugs--in room and kitchen area, Washrooms were staining badly 2. No individual night lamp 3. They take cash online 4. Check-in time is 3:00 PM 5. No Quilt Cover 6. Not easy to find the location 7. No lift I spent two nights there and I could not sleep even one night cause of bed bugs. I would not recommend to any one to go stay there.

so good! The staff is the nicest! There was a guy annoying me in the lobby and they immediately caught up and asked him kindly and then firmly to leave me alone when he got too intense. The kitchen is small and doesn't have an oven but did the trick for me. Location is great. The beds were clean (some other guests mentioned they saw bedbugs but I didn't see anything and slept amazingly). One minor thing is they don't have lockers, but they can take your valuables and keep them safe for free.

I booked two nights, and after the first night i realized there where a LOT of bedbugs on the bed i was sleeping, so i decided to check out earlier, i was promised that i was going to have a refund after writing an E-Mail for the night i did not sleep in, which i am still waiting for. It has been already a month since i have been trying to get in contact with them and i haven’t got any response/apologies from their side. I have tried all the Channels to contact them, they dont seem to care

DO NOT STAY ! rooms infested with bed bugs i was bitten from head to toe asked others if they were bitten too and 5 said they were bitten. told 3 different staff and they did not care played ignorant.

No recomiendo este lugar. Tiene pulgas (bedbugs), el baño es un caos son ventilación y lleno de agua en el piso. Las condiciones del lugar son pésimas y el staff es Malo. Tiene mala organización de las camas y las pulgas provocan que los huéspedes usen otras camas. Deberían remover este tipo de propiedades de Hostel World

The property was riddled with bed bugs and the beds not cleaned, the shower overflows and drains not work properly. Bites all over body and moved beds same issue arose would not recommend

unfortunately do not recommend this hoste, the staff were friendly and the location is awesome! but the dorm i went in was an absolute mess! it was disgusting, the others in the room didn't help either and unfortunately me and my friend are covered in bed bug bites!

If you are considering staying here do NOT! As a student who was travelling I opted to use a hostel on a budget but this was not worth money I paid. I arrived to find the wall paper peeling off the walls and the smell of v***t. We had to telephone down to the reception to let us in and out of our rooms since the door was broken. Which wa s a safety fire hazard. In the middle of the night I saw and felt something. I brushed it away. I came back from my 2 nights in this trip covered head to toe in bed bug bites. I checked the e views and everybody else has said the same along side of mice. I was not expecting this. And I am lot happy at all. I am their. To get a refund. DO NOT STAY BOOK-there are better places for the same price

this hostel bed had bed bugs and i got probably 50 bites all over my legs and back. this hostel was not only terrible the night of, but also caused my next several days to be itchy and terrible, due to the numerous bug bites. no lockers, no breakfast (even though it is advertised), the front door is just propped open so anyone can walk in. and the bedroom and bathroom were gross and dirty. definitely would NOT recommend

Not terrible but not great either. The rooms and bathrooms were cleaned daily which was good. The location was also quite central. Keep in mind that the hostel is on a horrible party street full of bars, clubs and fast food places, so can be very noisy and dirty outside. The hostel also had a pretty bad smell everywhere which wasn't so nice. The staff were helpful enough but clearly not enjoying their job and didn't show much enthusiasm towards helping guests. One guest complained about bedbugs!

Disgusting hostel with bed bugs. Do not go here!! We asked before check-in if they had sanitized, since we saw a review saying there were bed bugs, and they told us they had sanitized. It turned out they had just washed the sheets.

I got bedbugs from your hostel because it is not clean at all. Morover it is much too expensive. I should have gotten my Money back.
